New Unit that everybody will love to watch

Post by Controll »

Hi again,

I am starting on a gargantuan project to get the CEBX800 from MSTS into a more presentable form and then into RS.

I have completed the basic undercarriage for 1/2 the unit and am now trying to get the sim to work with 9 bogies so that it looks good and works as
it should...articulating thru curves and coupling to other units...no luck so far, but hey it's the first day.

Here is a pic in game so far...pretty much a static object right now but still looking good I think.

Rick

If anyone lives near this unit and can take some modeller type side shots of control cab and superstructure I sure could use them...I have been to every site I know looking for pictures and have a lot but none are really useable for texturing...too much angle or too far away...it needs multiple pics of the same area so they can be stitched together for the best effect.

Let me know...it is supposedly on a siding by one of the great lakes. At least it was in 2003.

Hi Rick --

The CEBX800?

A Google search using "Schnabel freight car" came up with this:

http://southern.railfan.net/schnabel/ca ... bx800.html

That MSTS is a low-poly model. There are much better Schnabels in Trainz that might be a better starting point:

Good luck with this project,

Phil,

My CEBX800 from MSTS is my first attempt at this monster....that was about 2 years or more ago and it turned out to be pretty popular with the folks on Train-sim.com.

Here's a pic

I hope to have this one be much more detailed and better textured.

Hi Rick --

And I was one of the 2,000+ people who downloaded it. Wore out the wheels too transporting oversize loads on my "Austral Bay" and other MSTS routes.

Can I make one plea for the Rail Sim model?

One of the great features of this new simulation is the ability to actually load and unload freight cars. Would it be possible to add this feature? Perhaps something like this, but with more massive loads:

Phil,

I am saying up front that (as with most foks in the new sim) I am not very knowledgeable of the inner workings of
RS so it may be beyond me to do as you hope....but I will check it out once I have the unit working as desired for use.
