Jamie , a chap not built for speed, was to run a half marathon last year for a charity close to his heart. Due to an injury he was unable to but he had sent off for the entry forms for this year and there was no forseeable reason why he would not be able to raise money for them.
The charity is called 'Transforming Lives Of Children' and is run by two very special people who self fund all admin costs so any monies raised goes straight to the children. They run a home for street children in Danang Vietnam, they feed, clothe, provide medication, glasses and educate the children, when they are old enough they move on to vocational training. This includes hairdressing, sewing, motorbike mechanics and electrics this of course enables them not only to provide for themselves but gives them a future for their own children. Jamie was wonderful with all children, he was the much adored eldest of 12 cousins and he believed in educating people so they would be able to look after themselves and give them dignity. It costs just £30 to feed clothe and educate a child for one year, it costs just £90 to set up a boy with all his own equipment for a motorcycle repair business.

My heart is breaking with the loss of my very special son and I know it would mean so much to him if his legacy was for so many children to raise themselves out of poverty and to give them a future.
The charity address is 'TLC', 10 Millington Gate, Willen, Milton Keynes, MK15 9HT. Tel 01908 672484

Anton Coutney-May has done a Virgin 87 based on the EH2 model - he sent me the picture over msn. :)

It looks brilliant.
I will get this uploaded tonight, managed to package it last night. I will also finish the 155 I promised him.

Never spoke to him personally, but have enjoyed his work, especially his skin of 87002.
Also want to say well done to Anton - the 87 reskin is a fitting tribute.

My condolonces to his friends and family.

Having not been a member of this community for long, I'm extremely privilaged to have come in contact with Jamie on several occasions - on each of which he proved to be exactly as many of the comments here prove. Polite, kind, funny and, of course, extremely talented and hard-working for the benefit of the entire community.

May we respect his legacy in the world of train-simming for many years to come. His input will be greatly missed and I for one will need time to let this news settle in - it still seems impossible that such a life could be cut so short, so young... :(

It's at least a heart-warming consolation to see so many people here make a small tribute of their own.

 RIP Jamie

and, naturally, our greatest condolences to all those closest to him and most affected...

Cheers Jamie. Thanks for everything.

I Hadn't been on here for a while due to outside Circumstances, I have spoken to Jamie on a few occasions and am deeply saddened by this, he was enthusiastic about EH2 when I released it and its nice to see one of my loco's named after Him.

Sorry for posting so late - Sad news Indeed, my sincere condolences to his family.

About Making Tracks Rail Simulation Software Limited
Making Tracks was formed in early 2004 by Dave Babb, Nick Collier and the late Dale Stewart.
Our goal was (and still is) to create the 'best of breed' TrainSim addons. We work to a very high standard and produce something to be truly proud of, and provide the kind of support we thought people had a reasonable right to expect. In short, a group we'd want to buy something from, and people would enjoy being 'customers' of!
Making Tracks have released four mainstream products - London & South East, Great Eastern and Irish Enterprise (in two parts) - as well as a number of stock packs for Microsoft Train Simulator which are available on professionally produced CD-ROM and many also for download.

MT were saddened to learn that recent recruit; Jamie Bowey had been killed in a road traffic accident in Buckinghamshire in May 2008. Jamie had joined MT shortly before his passing with a view to providing us with some new activities, an art form for which, well deservedly, he was well respected for on UKTrainSim and in the TrainSim community as a whole for their entertaining and satisfying nature. This tribute has been created in his memory.
