Re: new Physx drivers
Hi
I have seen the Physx icon on the KRS intro, but what is it, is it a different card, a property of the graphics
card or is it a card to be used with the graphics card.
Will it improve FPS?
thanks
Daniel

Re: new Physx drivers
Ageia Physx is two things, a software physics engine ( which RS uses ) and or a add on card that can offload the physics calculations fronm the CPU. A game has to be written to use the software or the add on card and it's is debatable on the benefits of the card. Having said that nvidia has bought Ageia and is going to allow the physics to be done on a extra graphics card in the future.daniellouwrens1 wrote:Hi

Downloaded this update and installed only to find I lost routes. Good job I had backups of "Rail Sim".
Deleted the update and installed the original. Caution is the order of the day if want to install the above.
Best regards

Re: new Physx drivers
I just backed up my whole Rail Simulator folder and installed the new Physx drivers. Didn't lose any routes and everything appears to be okay. I suspect something else caused you to lose your routes.
Re: new Physx drivers
Just loading drivers with no idea of their positive or negative impact makes me nervous. I would like RS to come out and tell us if there is a benefit. As one person has had a problem others may also with no apparent improvements in the end. Yes, the problem may be of their own making but why take the risk when the benefit is unknown?

Hi, i have downloaded graphics drivers that have had a negative impact and have had to roll them back, but we are always advised to upgrade them by software houses and hardware manufacturers, but not all improvements maybe apparent except the most obvious..... sytem stability! You pays your money you makes your choiceboleyd wrote:Just loading drivers with no idea of their positive or negative impact makes me nervous. I agree with what you say, you do take your chances. If version 6.10.25, I believe, was used when designing the game then what benefits are to be gained from upgrading. Is it worth the hassle?
In my case I just as well leave the version the game came with as it is. It runs and that is all that should matter IMHO.
Best regards

Re: new Physx drivers
The benefit you might gain is improved stability, performance and or bug fixes ( just like any driver upgrade ) which is more important in the case of any new technology.RiscaStation wrote:If version 6.10.25, I believe, was used when designing the game then what benefits are to be gained from upgrading. Re: new Physx drivers
I have an ATI card but used the drivers on the link to update my Ageia Physx software. I think Nvidia have taken over the company but the software although now owned by Nvidia is not exclusively for their cards. My experience is that they are still independent of the the card manufacture. This is the second time I have updated the Ageia Physx software but the first since they went to Nvidia.
No problems.

Re: new Physx drivers
Hi everyone take a look at this, not sure if it is caused by the new drivers? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-X0HCVDESJY Keep an eye on the wagons and you will see they are moving about whilst stationary

All I know about it is that it caused my game to crash yesterday, when it had been running fine up until then.
I fired up the game and before it would even load I got a "(Null) PhysXLoader.Dll" error. It had never done that before.
After an hour of trying various fixes, I had to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling the game. And we all know how long that takes.
