Re: Progress Report on Dublin-Cork Route
Well said Brendan, we all appreciate the enormous dedication in your time & effort on creating this custom route & content for it to be compromised by a un-clarified comment. It's the right thing to tackle this head-on, so no one's left in any doubt over the integrity of the content creation on this wonderful route. Well done & best of luck on the outcome

Re: Progress Report on Dublin-Cork Route
I have now discovered that the origin of the problem is a texture - not a model - that I used in early experiments I did re-skinning the RS platforms. In some early screenshots, there is a pink brick texture used for some platforms which is based on a texture from Enterprise. I would like to assure everyone that that texture has long since been replaced by textures I made from photos I took of the platforms at the stations I have modelled - as is evident from the more recent screenshots in this forum.

Re: Progress Report on Dublin-Cork Route
Hello Moranb.
I can confirm that Lukas emailed me the skins.
And I can guarantee you that I never reported anything what so ever to The Making Tracks Team nor will I ever.
I think for somebody to pull off a project as big as this is by themselves an incredible achievement and on behalf of mysef and my fellow IrishRail enthusiasts we would like to THANK you for taking a lot out of your personal time to create this route for us.
Cheers and thanks again,
Evan

Re: Progress Report on Dublin-Cork Route
Dublin-Cork Version1 is now more or less ready for distribution. However, before I upload it here, I would like to to have the route tested by one or two people who are familiar with the workings of RS and who have both the US and European RS routes as well as the IOW route and the foliage package as assets from these are used in the route. A number of other items from the UK Trainsim library are also used, most notably the no-buffer track (File ID : 18687). Some of the previously available free scenic items (e.g. the stream) that used to be available from RailSimulator are also needed. (Can I distribute these with my route?). Also required are the embankments and cuttings downloadable from http://rapidshare.com/files/149346832/B ... kage_1.rpk - otherwise long lengths of track will appear to be floating in mid-air. My own assets will be included in a separate RPK. I propose to make a couple of CDs with the route and assets and if two or three experienced users of RS who have or can obtain the additional assets mentioned above would PM me with an address, I will send them a CD - with the strict proviso that it is not be re-distributed further. As I only want to have the route tested with default stock, I will not be including the MK4 coaches or 201 (on which a lot of work still has to be done) nor the re-skinned MK3s.
At this stage, I am not providing a RW version - but of course there is nothing to prevent whoever volunteers to test the route attempting to install it in RW. I have successfully installed it in RW myself, but as indicated in the RW forum, I am having RailWorksProc problems with my rolling stock.

Great News moranb,
I look forward to driving and would offer to test it but i do not use rail simulator often, only this route by yourself has sparked my interest once again.

Re: Progress Report on Dublin-Cork Route
So the first problem arises even before I burn a CD. Apparently the author of the embankments and cuttings lost interest in further developing these items. There is a discussion about this at http://forums.flightsim.com/vbts/archiv ... 75062.html. These are frankly quite crucial for the route - though, of course, one could revert to the traditional way of snapping the terrain to the track, but it would certainly require a re-adjusting of the scenery in these areas - and there would be lots of sharp edges.
Does anyone know how the author, PB,could be contacted to seek his permission to include these with the route. If he cannot be contacted, perhaps a moderator could clarify what the rules are in such a situation. I have the *.rpk file for these items and I suppose I can include it with the CDs but that will not solve the issue for anyone who downloads here. There was no 'read-me' with the file and so far as I know there were no restrictions on its distribution.

My posting on the Train-Sim forum received an immediate response. I was given a new link for this package http://www.class50-hoover-bashers.co.uk ... kage_1.rpk

Unfortunately that is not how it works at the moment. See http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 68&t=58336moranb wrote:Does anyone know how the author, PB,could be contacted to seek his permission to include these with the route. No response or contact details mean no permission even if you source an alternative download source for what you require. Only the original author can give permission for work to be included in a download or CD. There is a permissions working group inching their way to a solution but nothing is published yet.

Re: Progress Report on Dublin-Cork Route
Noted. I sent a pm to the author of the lineside package at trainsim.com. However, as there is a working link to the package, it is no longer a significant issue as anyone who is interested in the route can get the package.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! I've just stumbled onto this topic by chance and am FLOORED!!! THIS IS SO ACCURATE!! THAT IS DUBLIN! THAT IS DUBLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To the author, I see this is in the Rail Simulator forum, are you planning to ship this over to Rail Works? And if so, do you have a release date for it yet? I'm willing to purchase this if it's a commercial project! You have captured the Dublin part of Irish Rail spot on!! I'm planning to do the Waterford to Dublin route and there was no way in hell I would have matched what you have done here. I really hope you'll release this!!
