deleting routes in MSTS

I wanted to try doing a cut exercise in MSTS.
I went to edit and applied CUT to all or the routes in MSTS except my own personal route created by myself.
I put the cut routes fortunately into a folder called msts routes on my C drive.
When I went to open my route in MSTS I got the Microsoft message about reporting the problem to their office.
I was able to paste the missing routes back to the main program and everything was working fortunately.

How do I go about just having the one route (my own ) running on MSTS ?. Can anyboidy help please.

I think you have to leave the "tutorial" route intact.

I've deleted the tutorial route folder on several different installs of MSTS without any problems. As far as I can tell - plenty of other problems with one thing or another, but basically it's always seemed to run ok without the tutorial option.

Hmmm. I can't think which other route would be compulsory. And it has been reported before that sounds etc. are called from the tutorial directory on occasion.

Thinking about it, the tutorial folder is the only one I've ever deleted completely. For all the other default routes that I don't want to use, I've simply got rid of the activities, paths, consists and traffic subfolders for those routes so that they don't show up as menu options.

And I'm pretty sure that I've had no problems arising specifically from doing this.

Sorry, should read 'For all the other default routes that I don't want to use, I've simply got rid of the contents of theactivities, paths, consists and traffic subfolders for those routes...

I have made various copies of the train sim folder, with just one route left in each, and just move the one I want to use into the 'runable' position. This gives a fast startup and reduces the number of consists, etc. Most of them I managed to get rid of the Tutorial route, but Airedale won't run without it.

Make sure you remove the content of the 'Saves' folder, and if you have Sky2! Conductor, remove unused routes from that folder too.
