Question about NXEC services

Post by photons66 »

Hi

I have a brief question about a certain NXEC service from London Kings Cross to Hull. I thought all Hull services, or Hull bound services, were in the hands of Hull Trains? When did NXEC start running their own Hull services or is this service in question a supplementary one?

Thanks in advance.

There is 1 return service operated by NXEC to Hull from London Kings X per day, leaving Hull aroudn 7am and getting to London just before 10, it returns during evening peak. The service dates back to BR days (or before!) and is called the Hull Executive, mainly for business people.

Cheers,
Ali

The NXEC service from London Kings Cross to Hull is operated by a HST. Services operated by Hull Trains are 222 Pionners which are like Voyagers but they will be replaced by 180s from First Great Western soon.

That confirms it. There is an excellent video on YouTube shot from a couple of yards down from where the Selby line diverges from the ECML, Hensall IIRC. That video showed a NXEC HST diverging onto the Selby branch. It must've been that service then.
Thanks guys.
