Peckett 2nd Attempt

Post by mickrik »

Hi there,

Here is the second attempt at building my Peckett Saddle Tank which is also my first model for MSTS.

Good points

the motion runs as sweet as a nut

Bad points

the textures are better than the first attempt but still room for much improvement. Basically I am doing the textures with no technique, making it up as I go along and see what mistakes I make. I think I have got the hang of making a texture map.

The next part to work on is the cab interior, I am not quite sure what to do there.

observations and comments please.

Looks good, but the white part which holds the side rods onto the cylinder needs to be a bit darker, it's too white. A good model though!

Hi there

well spotted

It is a problem I think I am having with reflected light. Depending on which angle the loco is viewed from I am getting reflected highlights. For example, the handrails were given a good solid texture, When viewed close up in 3d Canvas there were no areas missed. It maybe to do with a specular light setting, I am not sure.

I will have a play with the slidebar texture se if I can get a darker greasy metal look.

I have a new texture which I have made myself for the Black areas which is good and solid and a bit scrubbier looking so I may replace all black areas with this and see if it makes a difference.

If I get this right I may present it in a few liveries.

thankyou for your interest
