The Heart of Wales Explorer, and Cardiff

Post by TheAmateurBasher »

EWS 37417 Richard Trevithick and 37401 were in charge of Compass Tour's The Heart of Wales Explorer, heading from Blackburn to Cardiff via Warrington, Chester, Wrexham, Shrewsbury and the scenic Heart of Wales line (to Llanelli).

Plenty of hellfire thrash was produced from the two locos, and could easily be enjoyed from the front coach, where I was.

At Cardiff, there were First Great Western HST's, Cross Country Turbostars, and Arriva Bubblecar 121 DMU number 121032 working the Cardiff Queen Street to Cardiff Bay services.

Here is the collection: http://www.davidhennesseystrainworld.fo ... 92304.html

Enjoy; comments welcome as ever.

It certainly was. Even more better, being in the front coach right behind the beasts. :D

Oh dear. Hope Llangollen was interesting; I'm heading down to the Severn Valley and South Devon galas in a few weeks.

Thanks for the comments guys, look out for some videos shortly.

Cardiff Queen Street's got a Bubblecar 121 working for Arriva. Look out for it next time you're in Cardiff. Cheers superdrive1! :D

It went that way did it? Interesting, I would've thought they diverted it via Whitchurch.
Regards.

I think Whitchurch was shut for engineering (anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong): the return went via Newport, Chepstow, Cheltenham and Wolverhampton.

No I'm sorry guys, I'm being plain stupid. Why would it go via Crewe if it were a 'Heart of Wales' explorer. I'm sorry.
Regards.
