Under the rain, on the way home

Post by popol »

Hi all

Here are some shots from an activity I've just finished for the Irish Enterprise. Here is the scenario:

We are in spring 2007 in Connoly station, Dublin. The sky has been dark all day, and with this heavy rain, people are hurrying to their home in the North of the city. A double class 29000 has just arrived on platform 6 with a service from Pearse and to Drogheda.
Passengers are rushing to the train, trying to find a seat in this already busy service. A few minutes later, the train leaves slowly the station.

Here is our train, just behind the 201 with an Enterprise service to Belfast.
Image

A Maynooth bound train is waiting platform 7
Image

On this section of route, we're sharing the tracks with the frequent DART services, which delays us.
Image

We're now speeding through Howth Junction.
Image

This is Malahide, where the DARTs terminate.

Image

The bay after the station is crossed by a bridge. We'll reach in a few minutes Donabate, our first stop.

To be continued.

Hope you liked it

Cheers

Hey.

Thanks for the comments! :D

Here is the end of the journey. Unfortunately, the weather hasn't improve!

As you know, Ireland is a very Catholic country, and so, there are many churches, like here, in Balbriggan.

Over the Balbriggan Port...

...and the station

Over another bay

We leave the sea and go more inland

Laytown, last stop before Drogheda

And this is the last stop
Image

The train stops on the third track, leaving the mains for the Enterprise to Belfast and the Commuters to Dundalk
Image

The station is really beautiful, especially by night

Hope you like the journey. If people are interested, I can release the activity on UKTS.

Paul,

You never cease to amaze me. You show me routes I have never seen before so wonderfully, and make them look absoloutley stunning. The shots are timed to perfection, and just look great.

Thanks for all these great shots.

Superb work Paul - that last shot is one of the best I've ever seen - very atmospheric.
