Expansion Pack

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Re: Expansion Pack

Post by maxhall »

HIya just paid £20 and downloaded the "Official Expansion pack" for rail sim...
Ran the installation, and it seems to have bugered up my Rail Sim....

Now the newcastle york route is no longer showing up on the routes!, nor is paddington to Oxford, and Bath to Templecombe... arghhhhhh........
So had more of less rendered my Train Sim useless?
Anyone else had this problem?

All that is left, is cinder lane, the german one and the birmingham sheffield routes that are not official content....

I cant access the new US route either, or the class 08s. or anything for that matter.

What a bodge!

Any help appreciated...

Sounds like some previous content has damaged your routes index file - the expansion pack has been well tested and uses files supplied to us by Rail Simulator themselves and uses their tools to install the files, so it would seem to suggest that possibly some other external factor has caused the problem. Would be worth uninstalling and re-installing, and of course contacting the Support team if that still doesn't help.

Sounds like there is 1 thing that keeps messing with your routes xml, can you list exactly what add-ons you install and maybe between us all we can narrow it down?
The problem with this is that the issue is likely caused by the route or maybe scenario that gets installed BEFORE the one that people post about when they lose stuff.

I had the same problem.

After installing the Cajon Pass add-on I could only see the Hagen to Siegen, Cinder Lane and a route I am building as selectable routes in RS.

The folders for the default routes were still present in RS. When I opened the routes.xml file I could only see the routes listed above in this file.

I suspected (possibly unjustly) it was Cinder Lane that contributed to the problem so I deleted the Cinder Lane route folder, restored the routes.xml file from a backup of the RS folder I had created prior to installing the add-on.

This returned all the default RS routes and the route I am creating.

I then reinstalled the Cajon Pass add-on and all the standard routes, Cajon and my own route were back, present and correct.

Hi. Yesterday I checked "Shunt On Tyne" scenario and find that I get message "Scenario failed to load". Three weeks ago, scenario worked perfectly. After checking I reinstalled Rail Simulator. Now installed: RS, Upgrade Mk1, DevToolPack, Official Expansion Pack and NOTHING MORE! All other scenarios from all 5 routes working normally. I have problem with "Shunt on Tyne" only. Scenario opens in EDIT mode without problem.

Windows XP SP3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
Kingston DDR2-800 2048 RAM
NVidia 8800 GTS (640) ForceWare 169.21, fullscreen mode

I tried:
- reinstall RS, Upgrade Mk1, Official Expansion Pack ( new downloaded ) again
- uninstall unusable software (video/audio converters etc.)
- reinstall audio&video drivers
- cleaning registry and system (CCleaner)
- fully switch off DEP
- changing memory modules, because I get "RailSim.exe critical error from Microsoft", after that "RailSim.exe turn to bad memory address ......memory cannot be "read"". I have not installed any tweakers or overcloking. So that particular interesting scenario. :)
Reading posts in this topic, I find that is not my particular problem only.
Thank you in advance for any help.

I just found problem solution. I installed last ForceWare 175.16 WHQL. I doesn't got additional perfomance, but I ran "Shunt on Tyne" again! :D

Funny, but I'm sure that this is a real shunter. It sounded just like what we recorded and put in RS.
:)

May be your sound card...

There is no plans to do a sound pack for the 08 shunter.
