Sound Problems With Fraps!

Post by NeneValleyRailway »

Hi,

When I go to view the video that I have made in the sim, i have no sound. I am running the movie through Windows Media Player. Would my speakers be the problem, as on my laptop I could record movies fine, including sound :-? , but on my Dell Desktop PC i get no sound at all when viewing the movie that I have made.

If anybody could offer a solution I would be very grateful :D

Chris
Try this codec pack http://www.cccp-project.net/ There are many different codecs out there but I've always found this one to be the most reliable. Just click download and follow the usual instructions

Hope this works for you

Hi Niall,

I think it's something to do with the external speakers used on desktop PC's?, the inbuilt speakers in the laptop as you said work fine. I've still got the same problem!

Hi Chris
Its possibly more to do with your sound card.
I think it needs to be a 'duplex'.... thats is the ability to play and record , at the same time.
Trouble is I can't fully remember ..... as I thought most cards were since Win95 days.
What is your sound card.... what software controls the card ?

Hi Jon,

I think my sound card is a SigmaTel Audio?, but I'm not 100% sure. Is there any easy way to find out? :)

Hi Chris
It will tell you in the Hardware Manager, which you find through Contol Panel..... System.
Cheers
Jon

Edit
Have you set FRAPs up as shown here

Hi Jon,

The Hardware device manager shows that the sound card is a SigmaTel High Definition Audio. I have set Fraps up, as in that guide but still no joy :(
