Heard the unmistakeable sound of a chime whistle from the valley ½ mile away that carries the main line south west from Bristol, about an hour ago. I'm assuming it was Oliver Cromwell as she was pootling about at Temple Meads yesterday.

Hi

Two heavilly weathered EWS Class 66s with RHTT have just passed my house. (Second time in this autumn) The back 66 was 66031.

Hi

A Class 66 passed again however it hauled a short train or it was making a Light Engine run. I don't know which of those because I had to write this post.

66024 with 21 HTA and 66074 at the back has stopped unusually quick and it also departed very quickly.

Nothing much tonight, clear sky but wet roads. Oh and a few fireworks nearby! :)

As a little side note, can I say how surprised I am this topic is still floating towards the top end of the open forum! I thought like most of the odd topics I can come up with that this one would also sink like a rock. But we're at 45 pages now and that really does surprise me! Wonder how much longer this thread can keep going...

Back to the whole point of this thread, and there's not much going on here in Exeter, nice and sunny though! (I'm on holiday if you wish to know, back home tomorrow!)

The scrap man has just gone past and, instead of blowing a bugle as in days of yore, he's playing the Steptoe and Son theme through a loudspeaker !
