The "train database" is built dynamically every time MSTS is started. I don't know the order, but it reads all the consists, activities, routes, (TRK file I think), paths and probably services.

When you get "error reading train database" it ususally means you have a consist pointing to some non-existant stock (or you've been renaming folders!)

Yes, I have been re-naming folders - but before I installed them and I can't puzzle out why it's giving me the error. It's obviously smarter than I am

But the supplied consists will still be looking for the old names...

Rename them back, or use activity analysis or similar to fix your consists.

In the latter case you will not be able to make activities for other people.

It is a limitation of MSTS, but one we have to accept.

Thanks Alan. Your original comments started me thinking, and yes Buffy - you are quite right. What was causing the error was indeed the consist file. Changed that and all OK.

Cheers Guys.
