I do actually find the Pendolinos quite overcrowded. I was on a service the other day from Coventry to Piccadilly, and it was really hard to get a seat. And, I've noticed theres quite a lot of First Class on the Pendolinos that isn't really used...

The 390s were designed for the Manchester to London market, the fact they're used elsewhere is just a by product of the most profitable area being catered for!

Ah, sorry misread your initial post. I thought you were inferring to the fact that the 390s were being used outside of the WCML. :D

Ditto,

Perhaps one problem with the Pendo's is Virgin's imbacilious timings they run them on and the fact that they book seats on the first until its full.

Was at BNS, one Pendo departed 5 minutes before our Pendo (both to London Euston) Ours empty (we had whole back carriage to ourselves virtually!), the other was full.
