Narrow Guage

Post by SavV1 »

This is as good a place as any to stick this thread, I think the previous was in here.
I'm in the process of knocking together some 1067mm (3ft 6in) track for our local route builders. Installed the patch, and at least got ballast to show at my points. But no rails. Went back into 3dC noticed I'd misnamed the rails, re-exported and.... Send/Dont Send error on route loading.
Can someone with 3dC that now has working narrow guage points please send a screenie of their heirarchy, and kindly inform me as to which object they are using as the parent in the heirarchy?

Many Thanks :)
Cheers

Since it seems to be the track-cap thats giving you problems, heres a picture of mine in Canvas:-

The ballast and rails have to be modelled separately. The picture explains the hierarchy.

and to prove it works :-

BTW, There is a dedicated NG section in the special interests section.

I have the set-up exactly like that, but RS is spitting the dummy. I take it you are using the ballast as the root hierarchy object in the conversion?

Thanks

Yes, I just click on ballast and export.

Your not exporting with Lods, are you? I remember trying this some time ago and this caused a crash.

If anyone cares to have a look, the 3dC file is here:
You havn't setup the pivot points in the right place. They have to be set at position 0,0 so where the ballast and rail shape starts...
Look here -> Doc 4.05 Page 7 :)

"I'll try that then" - says the inexperienced 3dCanvas user.... Model is actually an import from Lightwave, just use 3dCanvas to do the conversion.
Now where is that thing to move the axis.... i know i saw it somewhere...

Thanks for your help :)

Glad you have it working.

You set up a track rule blueprint for the track and define the gauge in this.

Hi!

I can't set the track gauge. I create a new Track Rule Blueprint for my own track section of 1.67 meters, I enter the correct number for the gauge, but I still get standar track gauge (1.435 meters) in junctions, I have tried all.

What I am doing wrong?

Sorry for my english.

Thanks in advance.

Reppo From Chile.

EDITED: I found solution for my problem, I wrote "167" instead of "1.67" in the field of gauge..

Firstly sorry to those who read the Narrow guage forum for the cross-posting:

Anyone know the set-up for a working points lever for custom track. I have mine made, animated and exported. Blueprints made up etc, but it's not appearing in game at all. Must be missing something vital, anyone that has done it provide a walkthrough a just a couple picts of blueprints and the 3dCanvas heirachy set up?

Thanks
Cheers
