PLEASE READ THIS If you have or have had Hull freight on YCR
This Is info and a help request for the hull freight run on the YCR.
I've found that this run crashes at londesbrough road. If you are Intending to download this run. I'd recommend you hold off til You've found out if theres any patches you require first.
I've spoken to other members about this run and they all say It works ok. But yet Mine doesn't. I will Be contacting the creater and Letting them know about this problem. If any knows who the creater of this run is. Could they let me know.

Hi Ben,
I have the YCR and the Hull Freight act and like others have had no problems.
This could be a memory issue.
A case of MSTS loading detail as it needs and using all your available memory.
Try saving the run/act before the point it usually fails, I guess it's the same place each time, shutting down MSTS and restarting it. Then reload the saved act.
Do you use TrainStore? It will help no end if this is your problem.
Edit;- Here is the Evaluation Screen from my run today.
Bog standard download and install.
ACTIVITY: Hull Freight
You completed this Activity after 59 minutes and 52 seconds of driving.
MINOR OPERATIONAL ERRORS:
You committed no minor operational errors.
SPEED LIMIT ADHERENCE:
You exceeded the speed limit 2 times, for a total duration of 11 seconds.
12:02:03 - at mile post 41.36 you exceeded the speed limit of 0mph for 2 seconds at a maximum speed of 0mph
12:02:08 - at mile post 41.36 you exceeded the speed limit of 0mph for 9 seconds at a maximum speed of 12mph
IN-TRAIN FORCES:
Freight durability limits were met.

Re: PLEASE READ THIS If you have or have had Hull freight on YCR
It will most certainly be a memory problem. The area around londesbrough road has a great deal of track work and it is this which affects msts the most. The simplest solution is to save before that area, turn down your settings and when you are clear, save and reload with your settings turned back up.
The other option is to install the msbin patch. Without the patch I couldn't run highly detailed routes with a lot of trackwork such as Dorset Coast or Thames Mersey on anything but the most basic settings. Now they run fine with all sliders on full.

I do have And use trainstore. Would editing the run to have less traffic help. Does anyone know why the 37 used has no cab sound.
I had the same problem on my other pc and that one Is bigger. But It doesn't work anymore.
It's just a pain In the bottom when It does it

Hi Ben,
It's 10-1 that the memory (RAM) is OK.
Your new PC will most likely have extra memory slots.
If the RAM is compatible (of the same type) it can be a different size (xxxMB).
Use that to increace the memory of your new machine.
Funny cab sounds are absent from my 37 as well

Re: PLEASE READ THIS If you have or have had Hull freight on YCR
Hi Ben,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with Hull Freight.
This activity has been around for a few years now and as far as I know there have been no problems reported with it before.
I would definitely recommend you install the latest BIN patch. This should help with memory management. However, I made the activity on a fairly basic computer before the days of BIN and it worked OK, if rather stuttery around all those sidings. UKFS trackwork is very heavy on frame rates.
All my YCR activities are based on using the stock that came with the CD with only a couple of minor exceptions which are detailed in the readme. So you should have sound with your class 37. Something else has gone amiss hear. It could be memory as well. I believe MSTS ditches sounds if it is too heavily loaded.
As an experiment why not try driving through the sidings in explore mode and see how you get on?

Re: PLEASE READ THIS If you have or have had Hull freight on YCR
Hi Mike,
On my bog standard CD install of route and download of your act.
I do not have 37cab sounds either. So I think that is a problem with the original loco.
I have 1.5gig of memory and get 10fps through those sidings on your act. Using TrainStrore an the latest Binpatch.
I borrowed 'common.cab' sounds from another of my installed 37s, all then worked.
It is possible that anyone comming across the sound issue knew how to overcome it and so it was not reported.
I may be wrong though.
I do not wish to confuse things for Ben but may I say.systema wrote: So you should have sound with your class 37. Something else has gone amiss hear. It could be memory as well.

The HDD space Is fine. I still have 75GB free out of 80GB. The ram Is 512mb I think
If I changed the 37 to 37064 from the NWE V2 route would that cause any problems

Hi Ben,
Change the loco by all means. It will not make any diference to the lack of memory, 512mb is barely adequate with all the memory Windows needs to run. Search the web for a free memory opitmizer that might help.
Todays large routes need large memories.
Maybe if the HardDrive in the old PC is ok. Fit that into you present PC and use it only for MSTS.

Hi Ben,
If you want to try a free memory opitmizer as Doug suggests, you could try "EndItAll" which closes down no end of background programs which you might not otherwise known were there.
Enditall2 is payware, but you can still get Enditall as freeware by doing a 'Google' search.

Hi Ben,
Full marks to Robbert.
Enditall is indeed a good program. However it is VERY powerful and allows you to close anything and everything.
Unless you know what a program does do not thouch it.

Re: PLEASE READ THIS If you have or have had Hull freight on YCR
The ram was just a guess as I'm not sure of the ram specs on this machine. But windows runs fine. Whats the latest bin thats out (stable one). I put 1.7 on but I did pull it down ages ago. So it could be that. I was on the coastal stopper the other day and I got through londesbrough road fine no problems at all.

Re: PLEASE READ THIS If you have or have had Hull freight on YCR
We are of course all different in what we have on our PCs, but I have used EndItAll for some time without any discernible problems. It seems to have discriminated in what it decides should be left in and what it should take out. It may result in some programs taking longer to load up when I need them, but I am not aware of this. I have the feeling that it is safer than doing your own thing when trying to cut down the number of programs running in the background, which does require some depth of knowledge.

Hi Tony,
Fair point Tony.
To err on the side of caution and all that.

Re: PLEASE READ THIS If you have or have had Hull freight on YCR
I'll have to check with some one who knows about pc's on that program.
Going back to the memory theory. The londesbrough road section even froze on my other machine (the bust one) which has a 1GB of ram.
So I'd hate to think how much ram you need.
