Bristol Cardiff

Post by michaelhendle »

I've tried my hardest to get the Bristol Cardiff route to work, but after spending 7 hours yesterday I have had to admit defeat, I can down load routes from French and Italian sites and get them to work, and I can't even speak or read either of these two languages.

I down loaded version 1 and the version 1 patch checked train store and it showed up o.k, then down loaded version 2 and followed the instructions as posted, when I got to the final batch file I got batch cannot be found message.

I then checked trrain store and version 1 had dissappered, and yes I did unstore be fore trying to load version 2, it seems it's a pity there isn't an easier way to get this route to work, or is it me whose just being a thicko? the author seems to have put a lot of hard work into this addon.

My New Year’s Resolution? Never to use spanned zip files again!

I cannot offer any help for your predicament of the disappearing of V1 and its patch. If it has truly disappeared, then I would suggest you download it again – or reinstall it again.

I strongly recommend you read through the very detailed steps Jamie Bowey wrote in the first sticky above – General MSTS Discussion. If that proves difficult, try a one piece zip file from my website. Unzipping instructions are the same.

Please continue to let us know how you make out. If need be, a step at a time. Or if you would prefer, PM me.

Chris

Sorry I haven't got back be fore but I haven't been to well, but just to say I must be a complete idiot  when it comes to this route.

I completly down loaded it one stage at a time, version 1 checked it found it was loaded ok, I then did part 1 patch, checked it again, all ok then down loaded version 2 and unziped it then tried the install me, then install me update, which wouldn't work just said batch file not found press any key to exit.

I think I will have to admit defeat this time. :(

May I, through this forum, thank Chris for a very good route. I've just completed Swansea to Newport (albeit with an East Coast Swallow HST) and thoroughly enjoyed the run. It may be semi fictious but knowing the area, your imagination can fill in the gaps!

The route was very detailed & I'm curious to know why, having got an average of 20 - 35 FPS, you rarely get double figures running West Coast Express?

Finally Chris, now if you could add on some Valley routes !!??

Well done

Thanks for the compliment. Glad you enjoyed it. I cannot comment on comparative frame rates as I don't have WCE

I am now working on the vale of Glamorgan loop and I reckon that release could be six months away. Track all laid, but the terrain finessing, scenery, life .....

Chris

Installed v2 no problem. You say v1 disappeared after v2 install, if you read the readme in v2 the NOTE at the bottom of said readme states that installing v2 deletes v1. Download and unzip files as instructed and then unzip Briscard.zip into MSTS routes folder then follow instruction 2 onward in the readme and it worked for me so no reason why it should'nt work for you. You need to follow instruction as there are 2 x .bat files involved. Can't comment on Trainstore as not got it installed.
GoodLuck
