last week I booted up RS and the Newcastle York route was missing from the menu. I used the repair option on the disk and everything was ok again except I had lost all of my downloaded scenarios from all routes.
Today PO&N and Bodmin were missing from the routes menu although they are still in my contents folder.
I installed the Game TTA's and the geordie frostbite files before running RS today using package manager, although I don't think this is the problem. Has this happened before to anyone else?
Or is it maybe a Vista problem and nothing to do with RS itself?
Just curious.

Re: lost routes
Open up the routes.xml file and see if they are still listed.
Other than corruption of xml/bin files caused by software there is also the possibility of hard drive corruption. Files can also magically disappear from a poorly RAID setup.

Re: lost routes
I have also noticed that when I have had to repair Rail sim that custom routes and scenarios dissapear from the list, however upon reinstalling them with the setup exe file it claims they are already installed.
Don't know if this has been mentioned in the list of reported bugs but perhaps something that could be added to the list if not?

Re: lost routes
Hi Niall,
they are not in the xml file so I'll delete them from the contents folder and re-install them.
Thanks

Re: lost routes
Back up the whole Routes folder to an external USB drive every time you make changes, then if all goes pear shaped, you can just copy it back and at least you are only a couple of days behind, rather than starting all over again.colinlee wrote:Hi Niall,

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).

Re: lost routes
The same thing happened to me after I had installed the Geordie Forstbite Scenario. I'm a bit fed up with RS just now so I have uninstalled it until the patch is released. :bad-words:

But don't get me started on that
Doubtful the patch is gonna fix this, the routes.xml file gets hacked at every time you install any addon route or scenario or delete either one. Best bet is to back up the routes.xml file before installing any new route or scenario, check to make sure everything is still there, and then back it up again and install the next one, one at a time.

Re: lost routes
Yeah I realise that. Unfortunately I had only backed up my stock folders and files and not routes.
