Get them while you can
Given the unlikelihood that acceptable terms will be agreed for the inclusion of my mk2 skins in yet another CD I've decided to call it a day.
However, I have resolved to give people due warning that all my Mk2 reskins will be removed from the file library on Friday. Therefore, If you don't have any of them you have a chance to download and archive.
At the same time permission will be withdrawn for their inclusion or distribution in any UKTS CDs from Friday onwards.

Re: Get them while you can
What a shame.
I obviously don't know what has triggered this off, but thanks for the hard work you have put in and for making them available to the Community in the first place.
I just hope that the start of this year is not to be a repeat of last year!!!
EDIT: Sorry not last year, it was 2006.

Does this include the Regional Railways Mark 2s?
It is indeed a shame, they are fantastic models.

That's a shame as I enjoy using these Mk.2's, looks like I' be busy this week thenBreedlings wrote:Given the unlikelihood that acceptable terms will be agreed for the inclusion of my mk2 skins in yet another CD I've decided to call it a day.

Re: Get them while you can
No offence Alex, but as an activity writer, "get them while you can", is less inclined to make me want them, especially as I can't use them in future acts I upload.
I'm already going to ditch two acts because there's items in them.
Is there no way you can resolve whatever problem you have, please?

Re: Get them while you can
Does it also mean that all existing cds with any of the mk2s on, will have to be withdrawn as well?.
The best is yet to come
Re: Get them while you can
Agreed - I know its not my decision at the end of the day but surely this move can only harm the community - refusing permissions for CDs is one thing....but removing content entirely? I've done it once, even for one or two items.....and the amount of emails I recieve asking if I can send it to people etc etc makes me regret I evcer withdrew it. It's not worth the hassle - even if it seems like you are getting some now.
As said, not my decision at the end of the day, but hopefully something better than this can be decided? They're cracking models, and it'd be a shame to deprive the community of them over one CD annoyence.
Either that, or someone had better be up for a mass Mk2 reskinning session!
Dave

I'm sorry that you don't feel any responsibility for the waste of all those peoples time who have admired your work and chosen to use it. I assume that you had considered the full implications of your action. It must have taken a fair bit of your time to do such detailed skins. It took many hours of others time to build the original model, many hours of others time to write activities, many hours of others to test those activities and many many more hours of the teams who made the routes they're used in. From where I sit that makes your time and effort more important than all those others who your action will affect?
Did I get that wrong? We all make mistakes but everyone respects someone who puts their hand up and say's "shouldn't have taken that route, so I'll tackle it another way. Sorry I messed you about." Best done in the real world over a pint perhaps but we don't have virtual bars yet. I will raise a glass to you if you reconsider though.
Remember a reputation gained in haste is repented at your leisure.

Re: Get them while you can
I agree with Niall, what is the point of downloading them as they'll be no use nor ornament other than on your own system. The implications for all community CDs that include these items are horrendous and the resultant waste of time and money is a real, real shame for those who have established this community and can no doubt do without this.NiallGray wrote:No offence Alex, but as an activity writer, "get them while you can", is less inclined to make me want them, especially as I can't use them in future acts I upload.

I do hope that whatever has caused this can be sorted out for the benefit of the wider community.
This will no doubt be a wake-up call to UKTS, as action will be needed to ensure the actions of one individual do not jeopardise the whole shooting match

Re: Get them while you can
Community CDs are put together at the request of individuals in the community who want their work made available in an easy-to-load format. The withdrawal of permissions is a kick in the teeth for the creators of the routes on the CDs that will have to be withdrawn, its a kick in the teeth for UKTS, and more devastatingly, a kick in the teeth for everyone in the community.
Having said that, it is anyone's right to withdraw permission for their work to be used....and we have to respect the wishes of those involved.
There's not any more I want to say on the subject.

Purely out of interest, perhaps you'd define what you consider acceptable terms?Breedlings wrote:Given the unlikelihood that acceptable terms will be agreed for the inclusion of my mk2 skins ....

Don't techno for an answer!
