Vigilance alarm question

A question for all you drivers out there (real or BVE!)

When stopped at a red signal and using the DRA, should it cancel the vigilance alarm as well?

I ask as I was surprised to have to cancel the DVD with the DRA on.
If so what happens if you switch on the DRA to leave the cab, and are therefore unable to cancel the DVD?

Is this an inaccuracy in the train as modelled for BVE?

Anyway it doesn't really matter as it's a nit picking point. I am totally in awe of all the guys out there who build routes and trains for BVE. I just can't believe it's free!!

I knock it back into neutral if I'm stopped at a red for any length of time. This stops the DSD going off and gives me a chance to go to the kitchen to make a cup of tea!
I would presume its similar on the real ones, though of course on those, you need a key to drive them, and without the key the controls won't work.

Hi Dave,

The DSD and DRA aren't actually connected in any way. The DRA stops power being applied when it is active. It's simply a safeguard so you put it on at a station or at a red signal so you don't forget about the starter and do a 'ding-ding and go' (one of my favourite phrases, incidentally ) ending up spadding.
The DSD and related Vigilence Alarm are inactive when in neutral, so I assume many drivers would stop, apply DRA, knock into Neutral, apply full service brakes and leave the cab.

That tells me exactly what I need to know...

btw a funny thing happened the other evening. I was driving to Wellingham in the office at home while my wife was in the next room watching Casualty. I heard the vigilance alarm go off and cancelled it using the delete key but nothing happened.
Panic gripped me and as I waited for the emergency brake application I realised that it was a piece of medical equipment bleeping away on the telly!!

I Turn everything off in the cab,(not the engine,of course) Then turn the Isolation System on. So if I pass a Signal at danger, I just keep going, But a bit slower.
