Digital Traction announces new loco.

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

I'm suprised that we haven't seen any of Digital Traction locos with any textures yet. Its difficult to guage what progress is being made on locos that appeared as grey renders from a month ago. :-?

Not wishing to pour cold water on my own thread, but I do tend to agree with you on that. Hopefully they're beavering away with custom cabs and sounds for the loco's they've announced so far.

But they do look gorgeous :D

I had a Hornby one years ago. I spent hours just watching the fantastic valve gear on the model. :)

Great that all these 'grey' outline renders keep appearing but I will feel a lot more at ease with this sim once I see a complete new loco with cab and sounds hit the shelves.
Bit worrying that a few months down the road now, not one single new loco is yet available or even close. Don't wish to sound disrespectful to those that are no doubt trying their best to make new locos but it sounds like it's very, very difficult. Maybe for now it would be better for developers to concentrate on banging out loads of scenarios so that we can make better use of the excellent stock that is available now.

Hi Jimmy, I agree it is tought to make new locos and cabs, but they will be well worth it when they do come through.

I'm sure you will see many start to appear very soon.

Also we are working on a number of scenarios for users.

regards

Derek

Did these engines appear on the S&D at all?

Steve,
if they did I can't find a picture of one.

The Standard 3MT 2-6-2 tanks did, although they were more common on the Bath to Bristol section from what information I can find. Unfortunately there isn't a model for this yet. :(

The Ivatt 2MT tanks were common on the S&D on local trains and on the Highbridge branch.

Hello Steve,

Yes, the Standard 4 tanks did appear on the S&D, late-in-the-day, in 1965. This was at the suggestion of Donald Beale. There are plenty of pics around of them, including some in The Somerset & Dorset in the Sixties, Volume Four - 1963-66, by Ivo Peters.

A couple of pics here too, just to start you all off looking ;) . http://www.bethanyjunction.co.uk/RailwayS&D.htm, and here http://www.sdrt.org/images_sdjr_01/0311 ... in1965.jpg

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

Pete, I'm not sure I follow you.
What do you want the guy who creates scenarios to do? I have him working on a new route but thought it would be nice to spend a few hours each week making a few new scenarios to give out.

I find it amazing we can not even give things away without someone having a pop at RSDL.
