B&SE Forum goes live (again)

Post by Garthion »

http://forum.bodgit-scarper.com

Please visit, even if it is to tell ME how badly the boards are set up :D, honestly though, for all things narrow gauge, including discussion on the development of NG in Rail Simulator, please visit the NEW Bodgit and Scarper Narrow Gauge Forums, a not for profit forum (or even rival site to this one) We aim to cover all aspects of Narrow Gauge Railways, from the real things to Modeling and Train Simming NG

PS my Guess the location has been set up there with a slight change to the rules ;)

Hi Bazza,

I'm quite sure that it's something to do with your ISP...

Maybe the URL hasn't propagated through all the DNS servers to reach the antipodes yet.

Hi Bazza

Can you Ping the site URL in a DOS window? It is still working for me here in England.

No Ping, No Pong! Had a friend in different part of country and another ISP try it successfully. Guess I'm not going to be involved with it, sadly.

Cheers Bazza :(

Bazza,

Can you try using a proxy server, should mask your current IP and let you in.

I feel really bad about your lack of access to these forums Bazza; I only moved them to the FreeWeb7 server so you could reach them.
However, the slow speed, downtime, (despite making a donation towards the hosting Co.) and the eventual difficulties in reinstalling the database meant that I could not in all fairness continue to us them. Especially as I already have a host that I pay for and work really well!
Again, I apologise Bazza, I really don’t wish to exclude you from these forums.
What I find really odd, is that you gained access for a day or so? I have been assured by the server that your ISP is not on their ban list so all I can suggest is that you contact your ISP and ask why you get only intermittent access to this address?

Yours,
Andrew, CME.

Using a proxy add-on for FF, called gladder, ver 1.2.3, I was eventually able to set it up and gain access okay to http://forum.bodgit-scarper.com/. Browsing the site and posting is slightly slower than usual, be bearable, thanks.

Unfortunately, the proxy is no working now with B&S posting, which is very frustrating.....I can read posts, but the various proxies are 'timing-out' when I try to post, so it's become another wasted exercise.

A recent update of Gladder has expanded the range of proxies available and access is much improved.
