Thanks Derek, Must admit I was surprised that it worked nearly first time and was much easier to do then anticipated. Still haven't done the fire in the firebox ,yet. Be interesting to see how that pans out.

Yes, Corris no 2. The cab is the cab that comes from the model itself, which is why it looks a little crude.

Quite pleased with this as I never actually managed a working Msts cab.

MSTS cab building was very hard work and the prospect of producing something more realistic is very attractive

I have now installed a 7600GS and KRS - I just can't make it run!

Kevin,

After adventures in regedit which I would prefer not to have had, KRS is running and I can run a 7F up and down.

I am not sure exactly where to start, the range of documentation is quite bewildering, but you can't have a railway without track, so I've found the document on making track. The S&D track, whilst much better than the standard MSTS offerring, still looks like very superior Hornby Dublo 3 rail with the sleepers textured on, whereas your NG track looks thoroughly 3 dimensional! I am trying to work out if you have modelled "real" sleepers, chairs, and keys, or if this is (very clever) texturing.

Hi Andrew,

Glad your up and running.

The track I have been showing pictures of does use fully modelled sleepers. It's not a documented feature, but a bit of a fiddle. You will need to read doc 4.06, procedural lofted geometry, which explains how to use the middle population geometry option to add a 3d modelled shape regularly along a loft (in this case the track). You only need to make one sleeper and this is automatically placed along the track. The one problem at the moment is that points have to use the standard flat painted sleepers. I'm hoping that this won't look too bad.

Just out of interest, this is a picture of the track in canvas :-

The trackbed and rails, sleeper, buffer and point lever are all separate parts and exported separately. It was just convenient to model them together in one scene.

Kevin,

Thanks very much - there is obviously a great deal to learn here! "Proper" sleepers look so much better that I shall try and model them, though I shall stick to flat bottomed rails, and probably direct spikes.

Superb Kevin.
I'm sure I speak for everyone modelling NG when I say thanks for leading the way on proving what can be achieved now for NG in KRS.
I feel the fires starting to burn now for a KRS Talyllyn route !! :D

Looks like I'll have to start on the 2ft 3in version of the track :)
