Problems all over
Hi, im not sure if im doing the right thing but none of the routes seem to work, i did every thing the readme files said in the Yorkshire Coast route but it still doesn't work, neither do the trains, i uninstalled MSTS because digging around for each folder to have it not work after following each guideline is not pleasing.
Cant developers just make an exe file which has all the necessary files needed for the route and its activity and clearer instructions for non-developers.
Sorry if this is already a post but we aint all developers on here.

Re: Problems all over
Yeah i've read the guides, over and over, but i think i've managed to get it sorted.
Just want to ask one thing, the Piccadilly Line route, what added shapes and textures does it need. I've installed New Roads, but does it need uk fine scale, and XTracks... I've got in touch with the author but not sure if i'll get a reply considering most of these downloads are 2003-5.
Thanks!

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear you cannot get the Yorkshire Coast Route to run. Perhaps as I created it I may able to help. First it would be helpful to know what you mean by ' none of the routes seem to work' (see Ronald's post above.)JunGRail wrote:Hi, im not sure if im doing the right thing but none of the routes seem to work, i did every thing the readme files said in the Yorkshire Coast route but it still doesn't work, neither do the trains, i uninstalled MSTS because digging around for each folder to have it not work after following each guideline is not pleasing.

Then, what if anything happens when you try to run them (error messages etc.), or can't you get that far?
Would you confirm that it Is the download version you have tried to install so far or the CD? If the download, did you obtain all the sections of it? Route files are only data files, rather than programs so do not really need an exe to get them to work. It just calls for all the data to be placed in the right locations in the Trainsim folder. If something is missing, it can cause problems. Something that may be missing are some default objects that need to be copied over from thr default routes... did you run the batch file mentioned in the read me and of course, the default routes need to be present for this to complete successfully?

Re: Problems all over
It won't hurt to install them, other routes may need them even if that one doesn't. I believe there are issues concerning the Piccadilly Line that cause it to lock up at certain locations, at least that was my experience of it.JunGRail wrote:Just want to ask one thing, the Piccadilly Line route, what added shapes and textures does it need. PS Pleased you are getting somewhere regarding getting the other routes to run now!

Re: Problems all over
District Line, yet more issues.
None of the routes seem to use the 1973 stock, how can i change this, also it seems it can't load the world i get this message "Train initialization failed" i didnt know installing add-ons was such a no brainer! i tried moving around the textures as well but when ones sorted, another error pops up.
Anyone else had this problem, it occurs during setting up simulation in MSTS.
PS. wheres the tunnels for the underground

Re: Problems all over
This error almost always means you need to update the tsection.dat file. this file contains details of all the track shapes for every route. It is continuously updated and sometimes older routes will overwrite the latest with an older copy, which then stops msts loading."Train initialization failed
Download the latest copy of the tsection.dat file (available on the front page) and install it in your global folder. keep another copy of it somewhere safe and everytime you install a new addon, copy it into your global folder again. Keep it updated and download the latest every time a new version is released.
Changing stock for 1973 versions of LUL isnt too difficult, but it will mean you using the activity editor or another addon, like Conbuilder, to build your new consist and swap them over. If you havent used the activity editor before there is a tutorial on the front page which covers the basics.
As for tunnels, I believe most of the routes start off above ground and go underground as they approach the Capital.
Oh and it best to only install one route at a time and get it working before moving on to another. Otherwise any errors can compund the problems making them harder to fix
Re: Problems all over
Thanks, i had heard this before while installing but didn't know it wouldn't work, I did install one route at a time but i found that the relationship between the District Line and the Piccadilly are pretty much alike so i thought best to have both.
Thanks for al the help

Re: Problems all over
Hi
Basically the addon track/roads systems were built because not all the required shapes were available from the original.
They should be installed into the global folder, and then work for all routes.
The Tsection.dat is basically a list of all these track shapes.
When MSTS starts it checks all the shapes against the list, then it cross checks with all the routes in the routes folder.
If it finds anything not correct, it will just close.
However if you can get to the main selection screen this is not the error.
MSTS errors are actually quite informative, so its worth posting here.
Cheers

Re: Problems all over
Hi yeah its not coming up in the routes menu, when i load up MSTS, its not closing on opening the program just the District Line Route isn't present.
Also the picture of the upgraded refurbished 1973 tube stock, shows how acton town should look and all the correct signs for the piccadilly line. I want that one, the real one that i know.
Where can i get that, the german version is empty and it doesn't seem real.

Re: Problems all over
The District Line, showed up in the route selection menu in MSTS but after i replaced the tsection.dat with a new one it doesn't come up anymore, theres not even an uninstall for it so i dunno what to do.

Hi
In that case you haven't installed Xtracks use the auto file below
Both routes are Beta, so do not include all the scenery.
Cheers

Re: Problems all over
To uninstall a route, just delete the route's folder from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\ROUTES or temporarily move it somewhere else if you think you may want to put it back later. As a route isn't a program it doesn't need an uninstaller, there aren't any windows registry entries or similar to worry about.JunGRail wrote:The District Line, showed up in the route selection menu in MSTS but after i replaced the tsection.dat with a new one it doesn't come up anymore, theres not even an uninstall for it so i dunno what to do.

Another reason why a route may not show up is if there haven't been any activity paths created for it... solution, install an activity or create one!
