Unpacking activities

Post by electric »

I have downloaded both patches (that i can find) for the activity unpacker (file ID 409 & 13769) but I still get a message saying 'failed to open package'.

I have only tried this with the 0900 waterloo - portsmouth activity for DC5 as this was the only reason why I got MSTS back on my system

I am on a vista :-? computer with a navidia graphics card, the latest stable bin patch and train store

Any ideas on how to fix it will be very welcome

Many thanks
Mark

Hey Mark,
can't help with the activity unpacking,
when you sort it out, do yourself a BIG favour and install the WIP BinPatch 1.7.102222 it is brilliant !
Forget the last stable patch. If you don't like BinPatch 1.7.102222 then uninstall, easy as that.

The 4 key view has the old telephoto view of the loco as before, but with the latest bin patch it stays with the rest of the train so you see the entire rake of coaches or wagons pass by before the view changes. I love it!

I have got them extracting OK (it's asking if i want to overwrite paths etc) but when i open train store the activities aren't there

The activities I'm trying to get working are the 0900 Waterloo-Portsmouth (my priorty) and portsmouth southampton activity (18028)

I am using train store and have de-stored the dorest route v3 CD (patched to V5)

I get error messages, but these are due to welcome boards (and some to do with southampoton) been missing (anyone know what file these come in, i have all dorset files, just want to go straight to them)

Many thanks

With Vista, I would recommend using all things MSTS related as an administrator (Right click and "Run as Administrator"), as otherwise things aren't always extracted to the right place. For the activity unpacker, you need to right click and select properties and tell it to always run as administrator in the security tab as otherwise the activity files will be unpacked to a "compatability files" location where it appears that Trainstore and Route Riter cannot see them.

I've done as you've instructed, and unstored everything just to make sure, and still no luck.

Any other ideas?
