It'a installed, even though it isn't

Post by electric »

I want to get the bin patch on (the last stable one 1.7xxxxx) to my vista computer.

I try to install it and it says I already have it installed. However, i don't notice any of the effects of it, and it isn't in the program list under control panel. How to i locate it to un install it to complete the install. When i tried it the first time I got an error message but didn't think anything of it, it seems i only got a partial install, not a complete install

Please help

Hey electric,
Should the BinPatch not uninstall properly, delete the folders,

MSTSBin_Backup
Rail Drivers Dlls
Translated Dlls

And the files,
Uninst_MSTS Patch xxx.exe
Uninst_MSTS Patch xxx.log

Should clear the deck for a new installation........
and BinPatch 1.7.102222 is brilliant !

Hi electric,

Just read your postings re your install. I've not noticed any change either since installing and being as you appear to have had similar thoughts & findings to me can I ask whether or not you've got any physical evidence (ie, a MSTS bin "file" in your C drive or similar) which suggests it's been installed?

Thanks

Hi Adrian
If you have a file called "Uninst_MSTS Patch 1.7.0929.log" in your Trainsim folder then you have installed Bin

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your advice.

Just checked my trainsim file and appear to have version1.7.0519 installed.
Can I pick your brains about Bin a little more please? (apologies if there's already an answer somewhere but I can't find it!!!)
- I 've been looking at Otto's earlier postings on BIN and his screen shots seem to suggest that I should be able to call up a menu screen or something with a view to getting the settings & functions that BIN can perform - am I right ot totally barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks

At least you've put my mind at rest and everything seems to be working OK

Hi Adrian
Looking at TS.com there's a set of USA screen files uploaded today, that are described as for use in Bin setups......so it would seem your correct.
On the Bin download page is a button for Screens & Widgets.
I haven't tried them, so I don't know what they do.
Cheers

Hi All,

I just thought I'd post a reminder that you should make a copy of your original GUI folder before implementing the Bin Screens & Widgets.

I remember reading in the past that there is no 'uninstall' facility provided and if they are loaded you cannot return to your originals unless you have made your own copy.

What does the Bin Screens& Widgets do? Although I have downloaded it a few months ago, I havent installed it, as I am unsure what it does and there is no reference on the Bin site, describing its function.

Just tried it, but I prefer the Severn valley screens, (all Steam Locos) so have copied back my backed up GUI Folder.
Thanks anyway.

I have mixed them up.

Just keep it installed, and overwrite the files with the severn valley screens. It will have the serven valley things with the nice lighter green of the msts bin thing, but keeps all the SVR stuff. I use the LU once, but they work the same way.
