Can Someone Help Me?

Post by 37180sirdyfed »

I've just received my MSTS with great enthusiasm.. however upon quick starting my game... "mprofile" opens and then responds with "Train Simulator needs Hardware Acceleration"... Does anyone know what exactly this means?? What do I need to upgrade?

I currently have an "Intel 740 Compatible Graphic Adapter"

and I have DirectX 7.0 ... not the latest 8.1 ...

Does anyone reckon by just upgrading these... will enable me to start the game up...

A very frustrated "non technical" enthusiast! :-?

You might be out of luck with the Intel 740. I have an Intel 815 in mine but bunged a 3DFX Voodoo in it to make MSTS go (and this is an old out-of-stock card). What Mhz is your CPU? Again, mines a 533 and only just hacks it - given that the 740 might indicate an earlier chipset than my 815, I assume your running something slower than mine - it'll go but you'll need to keep the detail truned down.

Sounds like perhaps your motherboard AGP drivers may not be installed(different from graphics card drivers),and get latest directx too.

An onboard graphics adapter is never good news sadly. Best bet is to see if u can upgrade by buying an AGP graphics card (check u have an AGP slot first). Maybe even getting a better CPU aswell if ur motherboard can take one.
