Eddie the Engine

Post by TrueScotsman »

Hi

I was just on Wikipedia looking at DRS and seen that class 66 Eddie the Engine was under repair

Can anyone tell me if it's a engine fault or a crash it was involved in???

Ty in advance

It threw in the towel because of the embarrassment of having such a stupid name.

I know it isn't out for collision damage DRS have taken the 5 door section to get at the engine so it must be an engine fault.

IIRC the turbo is wrecked on it. I think the first sign was that it was guzzling fuel far quicker than its siblings, and needing rescuing due to this several times. (including double headed 37s on the Stobart trian - my Lordz!!!!) Then it stopped working altogether. This what I heard (I think thats roughly what he said, it was a while back :D ) from someone at DRS. Presumably parts will come from EMD...eventually. There's also a rumour doing the rounds that another loco will get Stobart vinyls, but I don't know if there is any truth to this

HTH

cheers
