Narrow Guage

OK - I admit I've been a tad occupied of late. Has anyone discovered whether the addon tools enable narrow guage track?

Coincidentally, I've been experimenting making some NG track, this morning.

You have to make a 4m section of track in your 3D program. Ive been able to export the track into the sim but, at the moment it's invisble!!! Apparently, one has to use a lofttexdiff.fx shader to texture the track, but not sure how to do this in canvas.

Cheers,
Kevin

Well, if you are doing it, it will be grand!

I assume you are doing 2' 0" gauge?

Cheers,

Mike

I really wouldn't be so sure. I'm struggling!

It was actually 2 ft 3 inch gauge. Would be ideal for the corris engines I've recently made. I'd certainly be doing 2ft as well. (If I ever work out how to do it)

Didn't have much hair before starting this. Got even less now ;)

Yes. :)
I have done the 1meter gauge tracks for my route... i have done the blueprints for them.. everything is working well except the switches.. now i need Distant Mountains.. so i can realy start to build the RS version of my unfinished msts route :D

A picture of some NG track I've just built to test out the principles of doing 3D track in KRS. There are a couple of refinements to add to the track, but I'm quite happy with the result, so far. The procedural grass poking though the trackwork, looks quite effective with NG track.

It's all a bit academic at this time, as there is no way of doing NG pointwork at the moment, but was fun trying it out.

You are joking, right? :o

Amazing, everything in 3D.

I've got the same problem, but with 1.67 meters track.
In the RailSim forum Adam has told me that I can solve my problem creating a new Track Rules Blueprint and entering inside it my own gauge measure, but it don't work either.
I think that the gauge values for junction is locked at standar measure (1.435 meters)

I hope that people of RS show us the right way.

Hi!

I still can't get a solution for this problem from Railsimulator forum.

Derek, can you investigate how to create own gauge of track section rather standar one (1.435 meters).

As I wrote above, the regular section are very easy to set to any gauge that one wants, but the problem is in junctions where the gauge seems be locked to standar measure.

I want to start with my own route soon, but I can't.

Thanks.

Hi,

First of all, I found the procedural junctions coded engine very very clever! It yields a very good looking junctions from minimal work of virtual track creators. :D

Nonetheless I did some experiments in creating no standard track, that is, urban tram track, narrow gauge track and so on. :-?

At this time I'm suspicious of the procedural junctions coded engine was designed thinking only in standard track... This would be very disappointing...    I hope some people show us we are wrong...

RSDL have said that they need to do some things to get narrow gauge etc working properly ( what exactly I don't know ) but they said that they will be releasing it when ready.
