One to be no more
From Feburary One will be known as National Express East Anglia... Also being rebranded are 'Travel' buses and anything else owned by NatEx

"The 15:00 National Express East Anglia service to Norwich will depart from platform 11" ... Sounds daft to me but it'll probably grow in the longer term (I much prefer ONE as a company name though).

One's 'behind-the-scenes' name is London Eastern Railway. Why can't it be proud enough to use that as a main name?

Remeber its also going to be, "the 10:00 National Express East Coast service to Edinburgh will depart from platform"...
I have the feeling NatEx are trying to give themselves a brand image like First Group, and as the names do have some clue as to region thats all good, after all, what the hell did 'One' mean and as for 'c2c' dont even get me started.

London Eastern Railway is a good name. I don't like meaningless names like 'One' and c2c.charlierc wrote:One's 'behind-the-scenes' name is London Eastern Railway. Why can't it be proud enough to use that as a main name?
National Express East Anglia is a meaningfull name.
Will 47818 stay in 'One' livery or have Cotswold got plan to repaint it?

Thats the same as the "The next train to depart from platform 4 will be the 08:30 Virgin Voyager Train service, to Birmingham New Street" Now its going to be "The next train to depart from platform 4 will be the 08:30 Arriva Cross Country Voyager Service to Birmingham New Street...."jennings wrote:"The 15:00 National Express East Anglia service to Norwich will depart from platform 11" ... The next train to depart from platform 3 will be the National Express East Coast Service to Kings Cross CentralRemeber its also going to be, "the 10:00 National Express East Coast service to Edinburgh will depart from platform"...

At least they might get rid of that horribly strict man who does the 360 Desiros on that route. Now that the poor old Silverlink Desiro woman has been cruelly ousted from her perch on the 350s on the WCML by London Midland, there could be a vacancy.

Actully, having used several XC trains today, all were announced as just 'Cross Country' services and apparently all guards and announcers have been issued memos telling them NOT to use 'Cross Country Trains', 'Cross Country Voyager' or 'Cross Country Turbostar'.

Re: One to be no more
If the NatEx fanchises are being rebranded to be more area specific, does that mean that c2c will become "National Express London Tilbury & Southend"?
Like the idea of the Jaffa Cake livery returning; brings back memories of going into Liverpool St on those wonderful 309s...

Re: One to be no more
Let's list all the things that "Travel" buses are not.enotayokel wrote:From Feburary One will be known as National Express East Anglia... Also being rebranded are 'Travel' buses and anything else owned by NatEx
a) National
b) Express
I can't believe they could announce that with a straight face.
I thought "one" covered all of Anglia and not just "East"? Just trying to save syllables...
Cheers

Re: One to be no more
Not sure it's a great idea. "National Express" is about the right length for a trading name, once you start adding to it it becomes unwieldy. Fist (sic) can get away with it because they have a one syllable name, but even then "Fist Transpennine Express" is a bit much, so they seem to have dropped the "Fist".
But then, I do a useful job, rather than working in marketing, so what would I know?

If it is to be National Express East Anglia, the acronym will be "NEEA".
So NEEA and yet so far...

Re: One to be no more
Apparently Keolis were getting a bit narky about not getting mentioned, and as a 9 syllable company name announcement seemed a bit daft they decided to ignore both group brands and stick with just the Transpennine express bit.arabiandisco wrote:but even then "First Transpennine Express" is a bit much, so they seem to have dropped the "First".

Re: One to be no more
FYI... the name "ONE" means/meant.. - Operated by National Express... make any more sense?
as for c2c... i dont think Nat Ex even know... as its been suggested it stands for City to Coast, Coast to City, City to country... god knows.... but i cant see them using the London Tilbury and essex name again as they distinctly decided to change it to try to remove the bad name/impresion the line had on passengers
