Driver's Guide

Post by jmhorton »

Hi,

The main thing I do not like about this game is the Driver's Guide.

How cam you tell a station is coming?
How can you see what points there are to change ahead?

You cna only just see a bit in front of you, not like MSTS where you had a few miles.

Can you change the amount of view you see in front of you?

Many thanks.

If you press f3 and then press destination which is the second icon it will tell you how many miles you have got to go until you reach the next station. At least this will tell you when you are very close to a station.

Also you can use the No8 camera and fly ahead as far as you like, but the best way is to use the 2D map. You can then check all the junctions ahead to ensure that the route is correct and also see where the next station is.

How do I know if the route points are set in correct position.
How do I move up/down on the 2D map.

Thanks.

You use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out and move the map position by holding down the right mouse button while moving the mouse in the direction you want. You change the points by shift clicking on the blue point marker and the route of your train is a blue line so when you change the points the blue line changes accordingly.

There is a flyout box at the bottom of the screen, put the curser over it and click on the 2d map icon when it opens.

The 9 key will allow you to access 2d map while driving.

You can also open the Map from the Latitude/Longitude box at the top of the screen. It's on the left as the box opens out.
Also, to reduce clutter in the driver's Guide and the Map, try clicking on the "Monitor" half way down the right hand side of the Map. A flyout box opens out at the top right and you can select what information you want the Driver's Guide and Map to show by ticking the appropriate boxes.

The maximum zoom-in is very small, in my opinion inssuficient. Switching rails is very difficult.
How can I check the correct point position from the 2D Map window when in reality I don't see the
direction of the rails.

Look for the route that is highlighted in blue - that shows how things are set, but you have to start setting the route from the locomotive

Not exactly. I don't remember the title of the scenario, but its fast moving of empty wagons on the German route, which finally must be delivered to siding # 5.
At the entry of the sidings is point not properly routed (derailment). Unfortunately, simple swithing and following the blue track brings Out of Route warning. Then I found that the proper siding has a yellow color. I've re-routed the points to this yellow siding. I must say that I needed to stop completely the train in order to execute this re-routeing.

I would very much like to see the Drivers' Aid box redesigned. I'd make it smaller overall, with adjustable transparency, higher resolution, and zoom controls on the track guide. Speed limits should be displayed for convenience. The gradient map should also be incorporated into the same tab as the track layout.

Absolutely right. It would be much more "professional" and usefull.
