The 3fs were used as bankers as well on the S&D I think they had 3 link couplings instead of screw links.
It would be nice if you could do a dirty BR livery to go with the existing locos

Loved the `Jinty` ever since I had a ride on one at the Bidston sidings at five years old. Thing is, everyone calls them Jinty`s but why or how did they get this nickname?. Love to know the answer.

An engine of this type can be seen in the Rev. W. Awdry's The Railway Series book 'The Eight Famous Engines'. The character's name was Jinty, and came from the "Other Railway" (aka British Railways) to help out when the main engines went on a journey to England. Could that be the origin? Or was it known as a jinty even before then?

They were known as Jinty's long before one made its appearance in the railway series. They were also known as Jocko's - same as the 08's.

From looking at the RS trains folders it looks as if it should be pretty easy to change the couplings on the loco, so 3 link may be easy to do. Should no more next week when the tech documents are released.

Most of my models are usually of imaculate preseverved NG protoypes so a dirty loco would make an interesting challenge!

I'm new to this Train Simulator business, but I have an old version of MSTS together with Rail Simulator. I have downloaded your 3F to MSTS and think it is fantastic. However, I would really prefer it on Rail Simulator. Will you be providing it for that platform?

With the release of the canvas exporters this morning, I've been able to add the loco to the sim.



I've only worked out how to add it as a scenery item at the moment. Making a working model is going to take a bit (well a lot!) longer!!

Even if it was released as a static object I think most people would be happy but as a fully working loco it will be great.

What also is very encoraging is that it seems quite easy to create a model that works both in MSTS and RS by using the different export tools. This should mean providing the authors have the original files and their 3d package supports RS or can be converted to a 3d format that supports RS then we should see a lot of models released for RS (EH2 for RS???? Now that would be nice). Also while demand for MSTS is still high dual format releases of new stuff should be possible, then we will really see the differences between the sims and how far Kuju have progressed things since MSTS

It might not be so easy, to be honest. From reading the documents it appears that Railsim cannot use alpha transparencies for modelling. Most of us have used this technique for forming coach/loco windows and possible cab sides. If thisis the case then most models will need remaking to allow them to be exported to Railsim. I stopped using transparancy effects in loco building a couple of years ago, so the Jinty was easier to convert. (I'm willing to be proved wrong, here)

I have a lot of new techniques to learn so it will be some time before the loco will be ready
