Hi Kevin

They really are endearing little locos - in any colour.

As a modeller, can you explain to a non-technical person like me why we cannot have a steam effect when the whistle is blown?

We wanted a Midland red half-cab.

That's nice, though... :D
Sure someone posted a link to the Butterely red jinty at the time, anyways (and I know it's not right ;) ) a half cab in 10 mins:-

It's simply down to the fact that the sim was not programmed with a whistle effect!

I know that! :D

I hoping that someone would be able to explain why it had not been programmed with a whistle effect.

Thanks Kevin

How about two for the price of one? :-

I suppose I ought to point out that these are fictious liveries, and not carried by the locos in their real working life.
They were only painted like this in the preservation era.

Must admit, they do look very smart. After seeing these I quite fancy doing a Kirtly 0-6-0 or 2-4-0. Will have to see if I have any plans.

The Jintys are now available :-

Could always try the 156 2-4-0 No. 158A. :D

Hi Kevin

I have been taking a really close-up look at the two red 3F's and can see that you have acheived an astonishingly realistic effect on the tanks and boiler in particular. The texture looks exactly like a steel surface that has been pitted and flaked over time and has had many coats of paint to keep it fresh. The final surface has a fantastic new painted look with a sheen that you can only see from certain angles and I am now only just beginning to really appreciate the work you have put into these models.

I think you must be enoying yourself with the building of these models and you are certainly showing us all the real potential of Rail Simulator.

Many thanks for your work. I love these little tank engines, they are such fun to drive.

Thanks, Geoff, for the comments.

Have to say that some of the paint effects you mention are down to the bump mapping used. I have "borrowed" and edited a railsim bump map to get certain effects.
(I did ask for permission to do this, btw)

Cheers,
Kevin
