Activity Creation Problem

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Activity Creation Problem

Post by Kevin99 »

I have been creating an activity for the Thames Mersey route using LMS Steam models. Everything seemed to be OK however I noticed that the steam/smoke display had gone AWOL from all trains on the system. I have tested the locos (some ) on a new activity all is OK other steam activities on other routes are also OK.

I cannot see anything wrong generaly and do not have a clue as to where to look.

Can anyone advise in any way?

Many Thanks
Kevin

I think others have noticed this - intermittent or no smoke - and it appears to be if your computer is running out of resources, especially if you have placed lots of loose consists and AI. I seem to remember a post about this a few weeks back, and I've seen it myself on Cambrian 2, even though I'm running through Trainstore with the last but one Bin patch, plenty of memory and a fast hard disk.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558

Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

If it is a resource issue, make sure you have your quantity of sounds set to medium as they grab a lot of memory :(

Thanks for your help regards the loss of smoke in my activity . It is indeed a problem with the number of AI Trains used I have reduced the number used and all is back to normal. Its a pity we are limited perhaps the new sims will not have this problem.

Thanks again

I've noticed this while testing some of my activities - occasionally one or two AI steam services would produce no smoke when moving. It seems rather random though, as when I re-ran the activity, the smoke returned!
