Since launch there have been more than a few complaints about Rails Simulator that may have more to do with 'I don't know how to do it' or/and deficiencies in the manual than intrinsic problems with RS.
For example how many of us are trying to place items of stock on the track with all the World Editor icons cluttering up the view. Two simple mouse clicks can remove the lot (and will stop you deleting something vital, like Bath GP Station, as I did)
Others have a cluttered F3 view with too many colours and far too much detail blotting the landscape.
It may be that you find you can't move a whole consist without moving it vehicle by vehicle, or you want to place stock at Bath when you are, on startup, always taken to Evercreech. There is an excellent facility in RS which enables you to arrive at any major destination by using the Long/Lat window and its subsidiary menu.
Most, hopefully, will by now know that you have to add a driver to your loco before you can drive it; more than a few were stumped by this initially. Changing points, weather and time will have posed initial problems.
With all of these issues we can help each other out, but you may find it interesting to note, if you haven't already discovered it that RSD are updating their FAQ dealing with such issues on a regular basis (daily at the moment.) It goes a considerable way to supplementing a minimal manual, but won;t remove all the bugs.

Re: Beyond the Manual
I just wanted to bump this and bring it to people's attention.
It answers many questions that are being repeatedly posted, and also offers lots of advice for how to do things if you want to try out the route editor and not be totally baffled.
It's not perfect by any means and hopefully the dev tools manual will contain much more, but it's still full of good info and is updated frequently.

Re: Beyond the Manual
The answer to 4.17 (reference to a non-existent 3.13) is less than useful.
5.12 has a typo about Imperial and Metric "To get imperial values, choose a Track Rule related to a European route", it should say Metric there.
Other than that, very informative, but there are still a lot of bugs they need to fix.
