All the 442s have been retired apart from a few on GatEx I think.

2424 is a GATex one and its due out....... dont know

Are you on about the test run that 2424 did down the Brighton mainline as far as Three Bridges? If so it's already happened. Video below.

Nice to see a 442 back on the Brighton main.

I'm sure that loco is owned by a member of Southern staff - could be wrong there.

actually the loco is owned by the class 73 preservation group.
of wich one of the main ... members (???) works with GBRf as he and the C73PG assisted/were contracted to paint 73208 in BR blue last year

All old style Southern Region horns sound like squeaky farts!

You should hear 1393 on the GCR - it's got a bit of water in it so it sounds even more flatulant!

Will none of the 442's be running under their own third rail power anymore then?

i think they will go under thier own power. The 73 was probably used incase it broke down and had to move it quickly.

The 442 horn reminds me of a Class 47's horn.

Going through Eastleigh today saw a good few 442's stored. :D One was in GatEx livery.
