Upcoming Activity - ECML Privatisation

Post by Daz85UK »

Hi,

Heres a quick screenshot of an activity I am making for ECE part 2.

The basic story of the activity is: The ECML is in the process of being privatised and GNER is one of the rail companies taking over.

GNER have taken over all previous Intercity Stock and this stock requires repainting into GNER colours.

You are to take your Class 47 CE from the Mail sidings at York, couple onto the 08:00 intercity HST service from Newcastle, and run it ECS to Doncaster Yard for repainting.

Your Maximum speed on this journey will be 95mph.

Thanks

Regards

Looks like from December you will have to re do it as National Express take over from GNER then.

Looks good though so will give it run on ECE.

Can anyone tell me what sort of DMUs/EMUs were running into and out of York/Doncaster in the days that it was being privatised?

As I dont want to use a 365 as it wouldnt look right.

Thats right, there were the good old Pacer and Sprinter units, out of Doncaster and York, mainly in Regional Railways livery but with MetroTrain Liveried units aswell, these being the 155's, 144's, and 158's, in the maroon and cream livery. EMU's out of Doncaster are the class 321's, newly built in the 1990's, and also in the MetroTrain livery aswell. The 125s sets were split up for repainting.

The power cars went to Doncaster under their own power while the coaches mostly went to Rosyth.

Spare Mk1 were used as coupling adaptors as the HST coaches had no buffers.

To stop a player loco at a signal put a slow moving invisible blocker loco across it's path.

If it's got buffers it's Chain.

Thanks Ian, think i'll leave it as a full set for now as the activity is almost finished.

But I'll bare that in mind if I ever do another activity like it.

You've got the makings of another activity for Scottish Central.

The HSTs would be taken out of service at Craigentinny and the coaches worked to Inverkeithing to run round and trundle down the Rosyth branch at the south end of the platform with frequent stops to remove supermarket trolleys from the track.
