A little harsh and very easy to say in hindsight, now that the Cambrian route has been re-vamped! The original still more than stands the test against others of its era in my opinion.

Going to get Cambrian 2 but for now have to make do with the first, i will be doing one more for this route then move onto GE, LSC and ECE once I have mastered the activity creation.

The route certainly wasn't awful. In fact it was probably the best that there was at the time, at least in terms of scenery. My comment was prompted by the screenshot of Machynlleth, which was very wrong, although you still knew where you were.

As for Rowan826, I'd be delighted if he would post us screenshots of his current project. He must be an excellent route builder.

All Rowan 826 posts are negative about the Cambrian Coast Route both the old one and the new version.

Mainly because he doesn't like the area covered, if you read his posts he only want's a route in North Wales.

I don't remember the era the Cambrian Coast Route is set in as I am only 25. I would like the North Wales Coast to be set in a more recent era because I remember the 37s & 47s worked passenger trains from Crewe to Holyhead. Someone had started building the North Wales Coast which is set in the 90s to early 00s but had unfortunately adandoned it.

I have got the Ballyshannon route (identical to Bala Hub) as I am interested in Irish Railways, which is a wonderful route set in Wales with Irish names. I am waiting for Enterprise Part2 to be released.

How about a diesel route which is identical to Bala Hub?

There's nothing stopping you from driving modern trains on a route set in the 1960s. The modern Cambrian route is little more than a very long siding and would make a very boring route for MSTS. The original 3DTrainStuff route was set in the 1970s and included a bit more track, but even this was restrictive from an activity point of view. The new Cambrian route is set in 1960 and is a lot more interesting (in my opinion).

I would love to build the North Wales Coast route one day, but again it is only a shadow of its former self and for me personally it would seem a shame not to turn the clock back to more interesting times. I've got nothing against class 47s (or better still class 40s) thrashing along the coast on a boat train, but I'd also quite like to take an Ivatt 2MT down the branch to Bethesda with a pick-up goods, or run down to Afon Wen with a special for Butlins. I can but dream!

Yes I'd also love to take a "tankie" or Ivatt Mogul anywhere on an MSTS route of the North Wales Coast. The late 50's and early 60's was the best time I can remember (when I was a teenager) when Semi's and Pricesses started to appear more frquently in Bangor in addition to the Pats Jubs Scots and Brits. I know I'm a sad case (so my wife and girls tell me!) but one of the highlights was to see Black Watch in ex-works condition in Bangor sheds - word went round school in the morning that she was there and most of us lads went to see her during lunch time (she was one of the ultimate rare sights for Bangor shed at the time!). Happy days!

Hope the postman will call tomorrow with Cambrian 2!

Did'nt mean to start a fight, i like the route personaly, ok its only single line for the most part, and some people find that boring. The activity still has'nt been approved yet hope it is soon

To get back to your original post about a mail train on the Cambrian Coast, it looks a realy good activity, whose class 20 are you useing is it the BATS free ware one?, also is it for Cambrian 1 or the new Cambrian 2 route?

Hope it's the later as I haven't got the original Cambrian Route and seems a bit pointless buying it now 2 is out.

The north Wales coast route would be boring, the only decent route up there is the Welsh Highland Railway. The Cambrian is the UK's best remaining railway, if not certainly Wales' best, winding up through spectacular scenery from Machynlleth to Talerddig, and onward to Shrewsbury. I always enjoy travelling that section, blasting up the grade at 70 watching the insignificant road traffic winding in the valley below struggling to reach 40 between bends. Cambrian 2 will be amazing when it comes out, just as the first one was when it came out, it's a case of 4 years ago we bought Cambrian and learn how to drive, now we're getting Cambrian 2 and are gonna tackle the hill!
