MSTS Engineer

Post by fadedGlory »

Because TSM is unlikely to work for the new Sims, I have decided to have another go at learning Canvas. I am going through Decapod's tutorial on loco building (on the Australian site) , and have successfully built the underframe and wheels of Remembrance using his MSTS Engineer plugin. I got his textures from the Highworth site.

I have a problem with the bogie wheels textures. On the right-hand side bogie wheels there are faint green lines visible in between the spokes, like this:

<IMG width="320" height="240" SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php ... sright.jpg">

But strangely enough this is not the case on the left hand side:

<IMG width="320" height="240" SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php ... lsleft.jpg">

I textured all the wheels in one sitting, selecting the different wheel objects one by one in the hierarchy, then applying the texture using the paint pot in the operations tab. I used the face coordinates mode.

I did it twice just to see if I had made an error, but I can't get rid of these lines.

Can anyone offer suggestions?

Thanks,

fG

Hi

The bogie wheels have been "quartered" (I really must fix that bug)

A simple fix is to switch to world coords
set the shift operation default to 90 degrees X rotations
Select the spokes object on each wheel and run the shift operation.

Another thing I should do to the Engineer plugin is default the fully modelled wheels to on.
There is no real need for the square face wheels any more with modern hardware.

p.s. There may also be a bug in the cab builder for 7.0
The X overhang works the wrong way - try entering a negative overhang value.

- I'm working on it at the moment, hopefully will have a fix this week.
