Hi Conrad - welcome to the forums.
Sounds like you need to make a consist, using either just the 37 on its own or with a suitable rake of coaches or wagons. You can do this in the Activity Editor or by using a third party program such as Conbuilder. Once this is done, it should be available for you to use in the sim.

The MSTS consist editor is hideously difficult to find. I took me several years before I stumbled across it by accident.
This is a rough guide on how to get to/use it:
Open MSTS Editors and Tools.
Go into the Activity Editor.
Create a new activity - don't worry about the name.
Click on 'New' in the Service section.
Click on 'New' in the Consists section of the window that just popped up.
Create your consist, give it a name and then save it.
Close all windows without saving the activity.
Run MSTS.
Drive your new [insert loco/consist name here]

Hi Conrad
Rather than trying to master the intricacies of the MSTS editor, you may be better off downloading Conbuilder lite and using that program to build your consists - it's a lot more user-friendly! You can get it from here:

Hi again conradnelson
You need to select one of the Routes you have installed to get into the Activity Editor, then you can make a new Consist by following thammond12 instructions from -- Click on 'New' in the Service section.
Believe me it's easy when you've done your first it's obvious after that.
Good Luck,
Bob
