156 or 323

Post by megatron »

Im just considering what i might tempt my hand at doing next once my 175 is finished as i like to have my goals planned and set out ;)
The only two models i can think id like to do at the moment are the 156 and the 323 (i wonder if thats because FNW run them...?! heheh!)
Which one should i do first? im just curious which one the community wants the most?
Any drawings would be a welcomed help if anyone has any or has URL's to websites with he above :)
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Guy

Don't mind, but 323's run what's left of Woodhead now, don't they, so they'd be nice. Mind you, I think 156's run Settle - Carlisle.

well i intend to do both but its which one first :)
I may just do a bit of both at the same time to give me a little more enrichment :)
They'd both be done originally in FNW livalry (323 in regional railways FNW as i like that one :))
With the 323 there would just be the blue/gold star FNW and the centro colours to do, However with the 156 there are a loada colour schemes to do so that should keep a few people busy repainting!!!!

you know, i should have mentioned this before you did your 175... http://www.page27.co.uk/rail also has a 175 section with an interior plan of the passenger accomodation.

I have to admit that I'd prefer a 323... There are 156s already available in various schemes, but the 323 is the last one I'm missing (apart from a 158 in Wales an Borders colours, but I just use Central Trains!!!) that I know well...

madmardy: If you paint a 323 in Centro colours, there's really no exuse not to have Soho LMD-as-was (now Maintrain, I believe?) in Brum on any WCML that gets developed, is there?

Either.

A 156 might be able to use some of your 175 substructure as I gather the 175 was based on the 156 body design in real life. Would need a good interior like the latest 158's though as the windows are large and not very (if at all) tinted. The 323 are a fave of mine having been a Cross City commuter from DMU via 304/5/8/10's to 323's over the years, but to be completely correct someone will have to do a sound package for those distinctive "Electrolux Spin Cycle" sounds.

There's never a Barbie 323? Oh good grief, thank God Centro insisted at privatisation their livery is carried on the trains running their services.

...although that seems to be a little modified these days. Standing on the bastion of chaos that is Birmingham New Street earlier, a 323 pulled in off the Cross City line with nice, shiny, freshly painted, yellow passenger doors... What should we call that scheme? Lettuce and cheese? :drinking:

it was a 323 to hadfield, must have been recently done but was definitely a 323 ()hard to mistake of course). ian, the 156's on here are just repainted 155's. they're similar but the 156 is quite distinct.

cadet200: Yes, I know, but it's better than nothing, which is what we have in terms of 323s...

madmardy: Would I? Hey, I can't even get out of the first station - at least you got to Watford at one point!
