Animated Water Hose

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Animated Water Hose

Post by Nvincer »

Hi All,

I searched the forum regarding animating fuel pickups, so that I could create my own for the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Route. I have created the model, animated it with 0,1,2 frames as stated with, 0 and 1 being identical and 2 being the final position, and placed it in the ref file as a pickup. I have changed the values in Route Editior so that there is water in the pipe.

However, when I come to Explore Mode and I want to fuel up at the area I pull up, click 'T' and the hose does not animate and the water does not go in.

All I get is fuel point 0% coming up in the red writing at the side (HUD?)

Does anyone know what I have done wrong?

Ben :)

Hi Ben
I don't know about water, but I found with diesel you need to have at least two fuel points on a route before either works.
I must add that I'm not a route builder and I was adding to a route, so if this is incorrect sorry.
Cheers

Yes...

In the Tender File...

Code: Select all

IntakePoint ( 0.00 1.4 FuelWater )
In the Main Locomotive...

Code: Select all

IsTenderRequired( 1 )

Hi Ben,
Is it possible to run a loco you know works on the route, and then you can eliminate one of the question marks

Right, with a little bit of help from everyone on here and James Linehan, I have managed to get Maid to fill up with water from the fuel point, but I still have no animation from it...

Very Puzzling...

Hi Ben
Again I'm only guessing but I don't think it needs animating in RE, (although you might not have done this).
I did and the diesel fuel point pipe just kept moving backwards and forwards. I think the game knows its an 'interactive'.
Perhaps a route builder could confirm.

Hi Ben,
Don`t know if this is of any use.
You need at least two parts to make the water pickup.
ONE.....The main support structure ( called Base )
TWO....The hose arm ( called Arm-link to Base )
Pivot centre for Arm is at the point it rotates from...with just minimum rotation of 0deg - Max - 0deg.
The base must have its pivot point set on the ground plain AT THE MAX POSITION OF THE ARM.
Cheers......Reg
