make ace products
not sure if this is in the wrong place but is it do-able to get an input bitmap with more than 512*512 and then convert to a .ace file.

ok... thanks to trains_2 i've managed to work with 1024 textures.. thanks tho WSR2005. how do you reszie a skin and make it show up. i know you have to make a consist but does SD have to be editited or simular.... if you change the size the barriers are going to change where it picks up the data from

I experimented with an ace file used for station signs where each station sign used a portion of the file. It originally was 256x256 and the resolution of the letters at close range was terrible.
I sent the 256x256 image to Photoshop Elements and resized the image to 1024x12024 then replaced the lettering with a reasonably similar font. Once that was completed, I managed to compress the file and resave it as a 1024x1024 ace file (don't ask how, I don't remember).
I expected to see major alignment problems because of the higher resolution but amazingly all was perfect with text that became clearer as I approached it instead of fuzzifying (add that word to your Oxford).
With my result, perhaps you won't see a barrier problem; they might be defined as ratios rather than as absolutes.

I seem to be referring everyone to the coach tutorial this morning.
Working with 1024 textures is covered somewhere within - with screenies. It's also been covered in the forum before - a look through the archives should come up trumps.
I only use makeacewin to convert tga to ace format. The sd file has only information about sizes; once set you don't have to look at it again.
