SR Projects

Post by thammond12 »

Does anybody happen to be building any SR locos?

There's a distinct lack of SR steam in the file library. I don't know how much longer I'll survive without a freeware Merchant Navy...

There is the BATS southern Region add-on which has plenty of southern region steam locos on (There is also plenty of skins on the Blue Arrow TS website to download as well).

Nice idea jennings.

However, I had noted the distinct lack of freeware items. There are several SR items there, but most are old and below average when you compare them to today's standards.

I've tried modelling before, and texturing, and I have to say that I can do neither. I don't want this to look like a complaint, as I have the upmost respect for you modellers/texturers. You do amazing jobs.

I suppose Microsoft has you to thank for keeping MSTS afloat.

I've got a couple on the way, mostly ex SECR - the H class should be next.
I'll also be updating the P class at some point.

The Baltic, O1 and E2 are the most detailed of mine. The C14 never made it to SR in the 2-2-0 configuration - I may do the 0-4-0 version later.

Which ones are you looking for? (apart from the MN)

Still on the drawing board are the H16, 700, T9 & B4 locos as well as a Bournemouth set of Bulleid coaches & some 58' stock as used on Swanage.

All of these are a whisker away from finishing - starting work on the H16 again when writing the Walschaerts' tutorial.

Problem, of course, of picking up a design is that it appears somewhat crude so more detail has to be added - you almost end up with a complete remake.

no course not, i'll leave it to the proffesionals, I just grew up with that loco, not literally. I am however an S&D/LSWR man in the early 1960's so i like the sound of the 700 as well

The 700 & H16 were started in TSM, then 3dstudio & finally Gmax.

The 700 was in unsuperheated form, the gmax version is superheated, as is the T9. It just needs a bit of texture tweaking.

Decapod - are you still working on your 0335?

A new Lord Nelson would appreciated, as they were used on most of the Southampton Boat Trains in the 1950's.

Some formations were all,Pullman,a Mixture of Pullman & Bullied Coaches,BR Mk1 Boat Train Stock.

Some reskins, some unlikely to progress much further.

(a) Maunsell Push/Pull Set requested by David Gibbons (Longbow) should be completed and uploaded in the Autumn.

(b) Ex LBSC 54ft Push/Pull similar shape to existing 54ft set.

(c) O2 SRw24 Calbourne, modelled wheels and more polys than present version, probably to be released when KRS arrives!

(d) E4 fairly complete, must ask Longbow to do eng file - after I have provided (a)!

(e) Simple reskin of Gladstone.

(f) Lord Nelson - not be seen on the Isle of Wight - bit complicated, others may have started work, so probably this model won't progress far.

There looking gorgeous, especially Calbourne! A few more poly's on the chimney may be an idea (looks a bit strange from that angle) but otherwise brilliant. Those coaches look like some of the best ive seen just from that pic, will be great to get some vintage SR stock :)
