MSTS v1.5

Post by AndyUK »

I've just seen MSTS v1.5 advertised on Amazon's web site with a release date of October this year. Can't find any mention of it anywhere else - anyone know anything about it?

mmm, a version 1.5 would imply that it can be used to upgrade the origional MSTS to v1.5, or as a standalone simulator. I hope it is, then I wont have to re-install all the routes and locos :).
Arriva aren't that bad, are they?

I can

go to http://www.amazon.co.uk

type "train" in the search box and choose "pc and video games" from the drop-down list. Press Go

It shows the top 4 results first, then lists all 16 matches. MSTS1.5 is no 5!

(the ASIN no is B00006IQUQ if that helps!)

{hmm can't believe how cheap MSTS is now, 24.49, was originally about 60 quid IIRC!}

From Trainsim.com......

1.5 is the one you've got now with the already released patches applied!! That's all it is! don't get too excited.

Aww, surely not :( I'm going to phone MS and Kuju in the morning to get the latest info, as I'm very very interested :)

The way it usually works is patched software is usually .1, or .15 upgrades, rarely a full .5....

The kuju patch really was quite a minor one too, I would be surprised if it warranted a .5

The patch has also been out some time. It could of course be a marketing trick, but you never know.

As you say Rob, it seems a very big jump in version numbering compared with what they usually do. Although, having said that Internet Explorer has had .0 and .5 updates, with very little difference... hmm :(

Nothing on Kuju's press site (but it's not been updated for a while) and MS's train sim page makes no mention of any update or add-on's. As for MS's press pass site... once i've found the actual page in their maze, I'll see if that's got anything... doubt it though.

Here's another theory: Because Trainz has leapt ahead recently with SP3, maybe MS/Kuju want to keep their customer base before a major switch to 'the other side'?

The Microsoft Shop (USA) is only showing "Train Simulator 1.0" http://shop.microsoft.com/Referral/Prod ... teID=10861

I noticed several months ago how the old one had become "v1.0" which was what prompted so much speculation of v2.0, but I personally don't think v2 will be here for atleast 6 months, as every wishlist has so many things on it that if Kuju were to include them they'd simply not have the time, so I reckon we'll just get a content update instead... still doesn't quite explain if 1.5 is this content update though, or just some very un-exciting bug fixes :-?
