On Tuesday I was taking a delivery up to Scotland and my route took me up the M6 and through the Lune Gorge where I heard the sound of a low flying jet. Now, there's nothing unusual in that. The route is used by Gnat trainers as well as those piston engined things they use, but this was different. Flying not may feet above the motorway and within the valley itself was what to the untrained eye (mine) resembled a Lear jet. It had the two engines a the rear, was quite small and had windows along the side. The colour scheme seemed to be blue on the lower half, white above. The plane turned, following the valley then, above Tebay, climbed slightly before turning west over Borrowdale.
So. What was it? and what was it doing there? Any ideas chaps?

That's Co - Driver - Mike. The one in the other seat.
Michael,
What you call Gnats are Hawks - Gnats haven't been used for about 30 years.
What you saw was probably a Dominie - the military version of the Bae125.
If you look on wilkipedia there's a photo of one in RAF livery. They're used as navigational trainers so they could turn up anywhere & at any height.
