Installing Dorset Coast V4 In Vista

Post by thomascarter »

I've just installed Dorset Coast V3 on my computer from a CD using Windows Vista, that works fine. But when install version 4, I can't run the install4.0.bat file! It says "Access is denied". HELP ME!! :(

Thanks :)

Have you tried right-clicking on the install4.0.bat file and selecting "Run as Administrator"?

go into the Dorset coast directory and rename the file to install40.bat
then run a DOS command prompt - its in Start->acessories in XP or type cmd or command into the run box

Then copy this in (right click copy) or type it in

CALL "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\ROUTES\Dorset\install40.bat"

no problem its worth remembering that in windows vista, if you want to copy anything from widowsn sysyem folders ie WINDOWS Program Files System32 etc then any programme m ust be ran with administrator privilages in order to install correctly

This also applies to the installing of new activitys the comformation messages appear ok but when you load up msts they dont appear the tsunpack programme needs to be set to run with administrator prvileges otherwise they will not show in the activity menu

V3 doesn't even work for me, had to uninstall MSTS - It seems doesn't matter how low you're settings are, waterloo and clapham junction cause the buildings to flicker and trees appear in the middle of the track, buildings flash up big and stretch out - seems as MSTS is trying to draw too many shapes at one time even when settings are off

Are you using trainstore? Its essential for this route. Run single activities using Easy Trainstore and store the rest.
Also make sure you have the Bin patch installed otherwise the best you will get from Waterloo to Clapham is about 5fps. I used to get 1fps before Bin :(

I have the bin and all that, but this isn't my post so i don't want to steal from the original poster with this excessive complaint but I'm tired of asking questions about Dorset Coast so to save my health I won't use it, best thing. Great Eastern works more smoothly :S

Your decision of course but its a shame, its a great route and it does work perfectly with Vista :)
