Exporting to TRS

Post by jasonclarke »

Hi All,

I was recently bought TRS2006 as a gift and I know there are plugins to help with the export of 3DC models to Trainz but wondered if there is a tutorial to tell me how to do the export.

Sorry if I have missed somthing obvious and thanks in advance for any replies.

Many Thanks

Jason

Hi Jason,
There should be a file called TIMEX.HTM in the plugins download from my site.
It was missing from the download for a while, but it's back there now.

Basically you build models for MSTS, add a few extra parts for attachments, build a low poly black model as a shadow object and export the parts.

Thanks Decapod,

I have found a file called timex.dll witch I assume is the plugin but cannot find the .htm file ,am I looking in the wrong place, I downloaded it from the Amabilis site, I had a try at getting it from your Brinkster site but it constantly says bandwith exceeded.

Any sugestions would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

Hi

Timex.dll is indeed the plugin. Decapod's site has been getting a lot of traffic recently ( there was comment about this in another thread) so you may have to try a couple of times to get the particular file/s you want. There have been some version changes on 3DC recently so you may also need to check that you have the correct version. I recently changed to 7.021 and the updated plugins - including the one you're after- for that version were all on the Amabilis site as a single download.

Cheers

Thanks John,

I have now downloaded the file but still have a few problems, Probably me being stupid, The file locations for trs2006 apear to be different to those mentioned in the htm document so when I export the body object it gets the same name as the bogies object. I looked at the folders in 2006 and cannot seem to make any sence of it.

Any help would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks for taking the time to reply

Unfortunately I only have TRS2004, it may be worth asking on the UKTrainz or Auran forums for the new format.

I'm not sure if the content creation guide is out for 2006 yet.

You can change the file name in the exporter plugin, it probably defaults to the one you used last time.

Jason,

Use CMP and clone an item thats similar to yours eg. A diesel engine (assigns your kuid to the content)

Look inside the TRS2006 folder and there should be another called editing. Inside that you will find the cloned content in a folder called "new asset"

Change the config.txt to suit your model. ie. copy over your .im file and rename any reference in the config to it. Then use commit in CMP.

Sorry this is very vague but I'm in a rush. Will try to clarify later if you are stuck.

Hi

There is a "Contents Creation Guide" for "2006" on the "Auran" site.
You will need to read the document before using. It has changed as has the installation of created stock for this new version.
By using "CMP" to create the folder (New Asset). This will show up in the "Auran" folder in Windows Explorer as "New Asset". Into this folder put your files for the model and then return to "CMP" and complete the relevant boxes after which "CMP" will tell you if you have completed this correctly.
Once "Committed" into "Trainz" you are then free to place this item of yours in "Surveyor".

Hope this is helpful to you.

Best regards

Not Managed it yet , everytime I duplicate an item in cdp , it freezes , I will try a reinstall and get back to you, strange thing is that I can download and install content no problem from the website.

Will let you know.
