No further progress i'm afraid, as i need to jump on a train to London in 20 minutes, however i tried modifying the cab angle as you said Andrew.

Still not sure it looks right, and i don't know how i'm going to work with the speed gauge at that angle.

A primitive narrow gauge loco would probably not have a speedo- just a pressure gauge- so no need to worry about that one.

Hmmm, to me that looks more real, and it will be nice to watch the world go by! Other folks have managed to get the gauges at an angle, try asking MorpethCurve orDarwinS how its done. Coming on very well though...now you just have to fight the Cab View Editor!

So these ones fill the void for a non-static one then.

Sorry for the lack of updates, it's not that i haven't been working on it, just that i'm working with tools that most cab modellers go no where near, so whilst it might take longer, it should look a lot nicer.

Current Progress

Quick look at the materials in use currently

Wooden cabs in steam engines, something that never caught on

Ok, so i might be going slowly insane from this, but it ought to pay off :D

Agreed, that stuff's hard to get out of the teapot.

Bit of an update, remodelled part of the cab's interior, added a few bits and played around with the lighting setup, i think it looks better, but i'll probably continue fiddling regardless.

And an another update, because that brown interior was horrible looking.

Image

Remodelled all of the cab's interior walls now, i thought it deserved it as i had no poly limit.
