A4 No. 60009 At Mossend Yard

Post by JonathonAG »

I Was Out Today At Port William, But Raced Back To Mossend Yard With The Family In Hope Of Seeings A4 No. 60009 "Union Of South Africa" and K.4 No. 61994 "The Great Marquess". We Had The Plan Of Only Staying For 10 Minutes, As The Two Younger Ones Were Not Into This Sort Of Thing So Would Complain. But We Were Late In Seeing It Enter, But I Did Manage To Get Photos Of 60009 On The Triangle At The Yard. It Brought Back My First Memories Of A Steam Loco On The Mainline, As No. 60009 Was The First I Saw....Surprise Surprise In Fife:

As I said, unfortunate that I didn't stay longer and get shots of the K4. if anybody knows if it's possible to get access into the yard to see them this Sunday, please do tell me, as I might nag my father to take me through.

Thanks for the comment Dan, and I agree, there's nothing like an A4. So glad to see it again, last time I saw her was in 2004 at Railfest but she was only in light steam....so hearing her puff and chuff again is brilliant :)

At least you have seen an A4 moving - I have only ever seen 4468 and 60009, and both have been static (in the case of 60009, both times!).

Hopefully you can see it and the K4 in action next week.

Regards,

Dan

I've seen 60009 in steam. But not moving. Think that's the closest I've been to a working A4.

See 60019 every week, but that hasn't worked in years.

Nice photos there Lee.....I have to say the K4 looks great, can't wait to see her either on Wednesday or Saturday.

Sadly I won't be able to get through to Mossend again today, we're having an Easter meal or something today at South Queensferry with my Dad and his girlfriend. Still...plenty of bridge shots I hope :)
